[Whatever or however Fuuka did on stage, there'll be a familiar face waiting in the wings once she finally makes her escape. Kotone, wearing a blouse and skirt not-dissimilar to her casual wear, takes both of Fuuka's hands in hers and gives them an encouraging little pump.]
You did great! [she hastens to reassure her with a bright smile, one that hopefully covers up the apprehension lurking deep behind her eyes. Fuuka might not know who she is -- most people Kotone knows from home don't, after all. But a greeting like this is probably fine, right? Even if they're strangers, it's good to make sure Fuuka gets encouragement. She's strong enough to stand on her own two feet, sure, but it's nice to have someone there at the end!]
[The moment that she heard who it was, there was some hesitation on her end. As he continued to stare at Kotone, she wasn't sure what she just saw. And yet, as she looked down at her hand, it didn't seem like she was dreaming. She was certain what she saw in front of her was real. How can this be, she thought to herself, she saw her at that gate. She wasn't supposed to be here. How was this possible...?]
K-Kotone-chan, is that you....?
[She said as she gave a couple of blinks to make sure what she was seeing was real. No, it definitely was. All she could do was stare. Nevermind that there were other people around them, this was more important.]
[Kotone's smile brightens into something almost silly, and she can't help but laugh a little with relief as she squeezes Fuuka's hands. Yeah. Fuuka remembers her. And if that little bit of shock is anything to go by, Fuuka's all caught up on what had happened, huh? It's a similar look to what Ken had given her, all those months ago.
It's weird to be happy about something like that, isn't it? But it means she has to put less work into explaining.]
Yep! It's me. [Her smile softens a bit as she pumps the other girl's hands, waving them back and forth a little.] I missed you a lot.
[How cruel was this? Here Fuuka was, she was on a stage in front of everyone and was struggling to hold back her tears. It was already difficult enough that she had to perform in front of people but now this? She didn't know what to do. Instead, she bit her bottom lip as she tried to stop herself from crying. Wiping away the tears that threaten to go down her cheeks, it didn't take long before she had some difficulty talking.]
H-How...? I thought you were...
[She said as she trailed onwards but she couldn't help it. She was still trying to hold back her tears before finally giving Kotone's hand a big squeeze. Just as a way to make sure that she truly was here.]
[Don't worry about the stage -- Kotone drags her into the wings without hesitation, pulling her safely backstage. This little drama doesn't have to be everyone's entertainment -- not for free, anyway!]
I am. [Just... getting that bit out of the way first. Kotone's had plenty of time to accept her own death, between the month after combat and the year she's spent here. Without hesitation, she leans in and wraps her arms tightly around the shorter girl, hugging her close. Yeah, she's dead. And that's okay! Ken had told her everybody had come in the end, and Minato had reminded her with his easy calm that of course everybody would come.
But then there's a pause, Kotone drawing back just enough with a hint of confusion creasing her brow.]
The gate between our world and preventing Erebus from coming?
[Because she saw it. She knew she id. She saw Kotone being the barrier to prevent death from coming any closer. There was no way that it was all an illusion. Even as they headed backstage, it still didn't stop her from holding back her tears. Because all she could think about was how Kotone was questioning her.
Now that her attention was on that, she couldn't help but stare in shock. She wasn't seeing things...was she?]
