[ Lying in a bed of roses may make for a pretty display, but it is not an ideal way to spend the rest of your life. Maybe if you’re dead and unfeeling, sure, but what wakes up Dazai more than the camera flashes is the itching sensation of thorns scratching against his skin. He’d rather not stick around on the off-chance it would kill him faster! ]
[ Besides, it doesn’t take a detective to know that he didn’t put himself into this situation in the first place. He may have found himself in a beautiful garden in the middle of a city, but roses are not the only pretty things with thorns. Dazai has found himself in a sinister puzzle box, begging to be solved. ]
[ First things first — he picks himself up with as much grace as he could, and turns to the closest onlooker with a blinding smile. ]
So you must be my savior!
[ He places one of the roses in their hand. ]
I want to show you my gratitude, but I’d like to ask some questions first, if you don’t mind?

[ me after reading this on plurk: bet. ]
FROM: barlupin
Word on the streets says that there's a dead body floating around. Can someone tell me where it is, pretty please?? I want to ask it questions, like how it died or if clown corpses can still honk!
iii. — what a meowderful sidequest!
[ It’s like a dream come true! How dreary, and how absolutely meandering! Odasaku made finding cats sound like the best job in the world, and now he is living it! ]
Here, kitty kitty ~
[ If only it could have been easier. The white kitten seemed out of her wits, the poor thing. It was easy to track her down, but trying to convince her to come with him to her owner is proving to be more troublesome than defusing a bomb with his eyes clothes. ]
[ Dazai scratches his head, utterly lost. ]
How am I supposed to coax her out of that broken pipe…?
Oh, now you're interested? It's been idle chatter out in the streets. They say he popped like a balloon - but seeing is believing, you know? Especially when this wouldn't be the first time I've heard of a clown faking his death.
For the comedy of it, maybe. Or it could be part of a terrorist conspiracy, pinning the blame on righteous individuals such that the government may have an excuse to arrest them! That's what the clown in my world did, anyway.
[Minato is right. There was a whole party watching him die.]
could be.
thought not all rumors are to be trusted. they might have their base on the reality, but more often than not they sprout their own wings and resemble more fiction than fact.
Seeing is believing, right? Although in a place like this, it's more likely for facts to grow wings rather than be constrained with what we think is possible.
Besides, it's much more exciting if it did explode. It'd be fun to see how far a blown up corpse could go!
You tend to get one after spending around dead bodies for too long. I like my hard liquor straight, but something different isn't too bad every now and then!
as she always does, she feels a sort of tug on her heart when people she'd seen before reappear. but she knows better than to react and confuse them at this point, even if she missed Dazai a lot.
so she'll remain unaffected for the most part, even if she does roll her eyes.]
Go ahead with the questions. You just don't have to give me anything in return for it, though.
[even though she's got to admit -- the rose is a nice touch.]
[ Oh good, she accepted his present. It'd be a waste of roses otherwise!
So he keeps playing the role of a fool, acting like some rich-nosed brat who found himself in the middle of nowhere. ]
For starters...Do you know what kind of city this is? Judging from everyone's reactions, people popping out of nowhere doesn't sound like anything out of place.
[Well! What you know! Richard, too, happened to wake up in middle of the rose bed. But unlike Dazai he's not exactly in such a cheery mood when he wakes up. The mismatched eyes are wide and wild, and his mind is confused and scared. Obviously he needs to find the one responsible for his sudden kidnapping. No matter who it is, he's certain that his is nothing but Elizabeth Woodville's plot to steal the crown.
He reaches for his sword strapped to his hip but then he's met with a rose shoved to his face.]
..Huh, I-, what? [Richard blinks, completely dumbfounded. Huh, way to break a tension.] N-no. I'm no savior.
[Richard would take an offense to be called timid! He has, after all, faced many great foes and adversaries through his life ever since his childhood. He just might be a liiittle trigger happy and not take well the news of kidnapping all that well. Just a maybe.
But the attitude of his companion continues to baffle him. Him? A savior, knight in the shining armor? What a poor joke. While it might quell his initiate rage on the spot it does not fully defeat the bloodlust within him. The sword stays sheathed and the features on Richard's face dull a little. The confusion lingers on, clouding his mind but at least his eyes don't reflect the anger as they did a moment ago.]
Nay. [He says, voice flat and unimpressed.] Shall these 'monsters' appear you are left on your own.
[ Bloodlust is no stranger to Dazai, for better or for worse. It doesn't scare him in the slightest. He does, however, make a show of acting hurt. A hand immediately makes its way to his own chest. ]
Ah, an outright refusal! Such frostiness would be able to cool me in a summer morning~!
[ He recovers quickly though, as he curiously looks towards the sword in question. ]

I see you have found the our little gem in the city. I'd recommend trying out Kotone's cocktails. she is rather good at making them nowadays.

It's... I'm still trying to figure out what the hell is with the city, honestly. It got so much bigger overnight not too long ago.
