{ Player Event } What's true of all the evils in the world is true of the plague as well
Who: You. (Open to all)
Where: All over Aldrip.
What: This is the log for what we’ve been affectionately dubbing The Organ Player Plot. Various places around Aldrip are facing dangerous supernatural occurrences. It’s a scavenger hunt in some way.
Warnings: MANY SNAKES, Body Horror, Organ Trafficking, Horror Themes, Violence, and we will be updating this as we go along.

A waking scream in the darkness is the first unheard omen.
Snakes, hundreds if not thousands, slither forth from the depths of Lorentia Cave and swiftly invade Aldrip. They are the heralds of the terrible things to come, and there are no corners safe from their encroachment. The serpents come in all shape and sizes, venomous or not, and are quick to become agitated if approached. Their readiness to strike and unwillingness to back off once provoked indicates the lack of survival instinct to flee. They are on the search for what's missing, and they will put up a fight.
An invisible haze sets upon the city , filled with anguish and fury, afflicting residents as it washes through the air and buildings. Children, the elderly, and the sickly are the first to complain of ailment. Within the next few days, patients begin to flood the doors of any hospital or clinic with more serious conditions-- fevers burning from them inside out and excruciating phantom pains that make them writhe in bed.
The longer what's stolen is not returned, the worse things get. Who knows how many bodies will pile high from these plagues if nothing gets done...
ooc//
[ Dara is currently locked behind a barrier in Lorentia Cave to stave off the further spread of deadly miasma. Please retrieve a protection talisman from Seimei and retrieve what she’s lost (and hopefully return it…) !
How This Works–
To begin the search for the supernatural sources a participant can select a number that corresponds to one of the squares on the map (seen below). To go on a route head on down to the numbered top levels in the comments and reply to it. This is your character kicking off their investigation. Some routes will lead to nowhere, some to something, and others to ;)? You’ll find out.
During exploration you will receive responses from either
quizpersona or
cursegod. This is not an interaction with that particular character unless indicated otherwise.
This event will handwave wrap up by the 20th if no conclusion is reached before then because Dara needs her poor organs back. ]

He has to pause for a second though as it really hits him: Abe no Seimei, the onmyoji? ]
Are you Abe no Seimei?
[ His question carries an undercurrent of wonder. ]
no subject
I am. And you must be William.
[ Luckily he'd just finished up a sheet of paper, so he busies his hands with folding a new one while he talks. ]
If you've dealt with cursed energy and miasma before, I assume I won't need to tell you the danger you'll be stepping into.
no subject
[ He glances over the paper talismans with interest. ]
You said you wanted me to defend a group?
no subject
[ He'll be moving two talismans a little bit away from the group, apparently already dry and now awaiting those brave little soldiers. ]
I know not their experience in demons and purification, so sending someone with the appropriate knowledge would set my mind at ease. At least for the moment.
no subject
[ He says this briskly, the initial awe of meeting someone he's only ever read about waning as practical matters take precedence. Though time is plainly of the essence, he still waits patiently for the man to finish his talisman. ]
no subject
In the meantime, you may sit if you like.
[ Far be it from him to deny a warrior their anxious pacing if that's what William wants to do, but if not, every little bit of rest counts. ]
no subject
(ooc: Let me know who it is Seimei wants him to join? Else I can set him off on one of the routes.)
no subject
[ For a little while it's just that: sitting in the calm before the storm as Seimei continues his ministrations like the practiced onmyoji he is. In due time a freshly inked talisman will be placed on the mat next to the other one he'd set aside, and he's right back to the grind on another one.
Except this time, it seems a thought just won't escape him. ]
You seem familiar with my name.
no subject
[ He looks over in surprise. Then breaks out into a small laugh. ]
Oh. Well, yes, I am. Or I was, I suppose. Your name is well known in Japan.
no subject
[ A few other Chosen seem to be familiar with the place, if not who he is. It's interesting seeing what is and isn't commonplace in these other worlds. ]
no subject
[ He shifts awkwardly. He's always hesitant to say this because of how odd it must sound. ]
I was Japanese in my previous life.
no subject
[ It sure does sound odd, but they're both men of spirituality here. It's likely not the oddest thing either of them have heard. ]
One normally doesn't remember that sort of thing without great effort.
no subject
[ He smiles hesitantly at the other man. ]
You're a very well-known figure in history.
[ And used in several games-- but no-one needs to hear that. ]
no subject
Of course he is. Who wouldn't be, when told something like that? All the gossip and stories courtly nobles filled their time with about him is one thing, that could happen to any human settlement's chosen black sheep. It didn't matter. But to hear you're a 'figure in history'? He also can't help but notice the use of 'well-known', not 'infamous' or 'feared' or anything else he would expect to hear about himself even long after he was gone. What are the stories that stuck around...?
His expression remains unchanged; dutiful, focused on the task at hand, but if William's paying close enough attention he may notice Seimei's eyes on his work are a little more...deliberate, than before. ]
Not for being an unreliable charlatan, I should hope.
no subject
No, no - you were well thought of, actually. You lived a long life. People respected you as a spiritual advisor. There's...I think there was a shrine built in your honour.
no subject
How simple it is to tolerate a person once they're finally gone.
no subject
[ He's surprised. In fairness, he doesn't remember details but he hadn't thought someone who was disliked would receive a shrine. ]
no subject
[ That's. A little cattier than he meant it to come out, pardon while he steels himself back up with a clearing of his throat. ]
Suppose it isn't fair to say you could ask any lord or lady's opinion yourself when you can't. Suffice to say, no, I was not considered enjoyable company.
no subject
[ History never paints an accurate picture of events, he thinks ruefully. He should know that by now after keeping company with Bee. Details get exaggerated, nuance is lost. ]
Did they not like the advice you gave?
[ He tries to keep his tone humorous. ]
no subject
[ He could name a few incidents in particular, but that would be dangerously close to the gossip the court loved to indulge in so much, and he has much better things to do with his time than gossip, thank you very much. ]
Though I suppose most people are never pleased with what they don't want to hear; a status and title just make it worse.
no subject
[ That's...an understatement. ]
