[There is something so unsettling about all of this, so deeply, fundamentally wrong. It's like he's beginning to doubt the life he's always known, like he's no longer certain the world is real. Beneath the yawning abyss of worry that causes is the underlying nervous question: is he losing his mind? Are all of them? If it's not just him, then what on earth is happening?
But-- the fact is that it seems it's been happening for Scott, too.]
Yeah. I never noticed anything unusual about colors.
[Which is another worrying thought. Why, and how, is Scott seeing the world in red...? Scott tries to smile, but Yu looks nothing but worried, at least at first.]
That is pretty weird. [He doesn't want to lie and say something like he's sure it'll be fine. He's not sure about that at all. There's something within him, too, that he's just barely keeping a lid on. Some voice or personality yearning to get out, and the fact that he doesn't know what it is scares the hell out of him. But worrying themselves into a panic isn't going to help anyone or anything. So, after a moment, he ventures a bit of a smile.] ... For what it's worth, your eyes look just fine, to me.
Thanks, just let me know if they start looking weird. Or red.
[For once, he really feels kind of... hopeless, at least unable to really think of anything to make his friend feel better. But he doesn't want to do nothing, so he lifts a hand to place on Yu's shoulder, squeezing it lightly as he returns his smile with a slightly strained one. Well, even though things are going crazy and they might be losing their minds, at least... they have each other? Scott doesn't feel completely alone yet and as long as that feeling lasts, he thinks he can keep going. Face that abyss and dive right into it.
Hopefully Yu feels the same way.]
We'll get through this together, okay? We're still friends, I know that for sure.
[Yu breathes out a soft exhale, just a bit shy of a chuckle.]
Would it be too much if I say "I'll keep an eye out"?
[Levity is becoming easier by the moment, but he still feels worried. Still-- it's not lost on him that Scott is trying to reassure him. The hand on his shoulder helps, and he offers a small, grateful smile to show for it.]
Together. [He brings a hand up, placing it over Scott's for a moment before it goes back to his pocket. Somehow, just that one word is a comfort. It's strange, because he's just...used to being on his own, usually. "Together?" Being part of a group, a team? It's-- not how he does things, usually.]
So-- what kind of memories were they? If you don't mind sharing.
