[ Only one way to find out. Minato reaches for the black ribbon tied around his neck and tugs on its end. The piece of fabric loosens, falling into his hand. He sets it on the countertop. ]
[ Sandry puts her finger on the counter near the ribbon and moves it back and forth slowly. As one should expect, nothing happens. It doesn't move even the slightest bit.
She gives a relieved sigh. ]
Nothing. As it should be! Maybe there's something strange about this particular ribbon.
[ Part of Sandry wants to know and part of her wants it to go away. Things like this aren't supposed to happen in Aldrip... But she gives a sigh. ]
I'll go get the supply box.
[ She vanishes into the back, Minato will take care of himself at the front. Maybe get a cookie, maybe make some tea, maybe pull up a chair. He knows the place.
She reappears with a box, places it on the counter, opens it up, and starts rifling through it. After a bit she pulls out some multicolored twine and holds it up for Minato. ]
What about this one?
incidentally this is also how i learn more about sandry's magic
[ Sandry's instinct is correct. He's nibbling on a chocolate chip cookie whhen she returns.
It's certainly different from the ribbon Sandry was experimenting with earlier, and the twine also doesn't look anything like the fabric tied around Minato's neck either. He reaches out to take the twine and lays it on the counter, then places his own index finger on its surface. Minato moves his hand back and forth, seeing if it will follow him. No dice.
[ With some trepidation, Sandry tries her experiment from earlier. Sure enough, the twine follows her finger back and forth. She throws her hands up in exasperation. ]
[ There've been whisperings around the town: people seeing things that suddenly disappeared shortly after they picked them up, people's belongings and even entire buildings going missing. ]
I had stepped into the back for just a minute and when I came out again they were all gone! The whole case of them. I didn't hear the bell from the door, nothing was disturbed, and nothing else was missing.

Here.
[ A pause. ]
...but only if you want to try.

Nothing. As it should be! Maybe there's something strange about this particular ribbon.

It looks like a regular ribbon though.
[ No special properties, as far as he can tell. ]
Maybe you should test others.
[ Good thing the boss is out today... ]

He glances up at Sandry, expectantly. ]

I don't understand! Why is it doing that?

He points at her. ]
Maybe it's something you're doing.
[ Or... something unique to her? ]

But I'm not doing anything. Do you think... something happened to me? It's as if I'm magnetic, but only with strings.
no subject
I think something's happened to a lot of us.

Toph could suddenly hear where things are. And Levi said all the birds are gone. And the cookies all vanished the other day.
no subject
...the cookies vanishing didn't have anything to do with you, did it?

I guess we'll have to bake more to replace the jar.
[ Moving threads, disappearing cookie jars... Strange things really have been happening around town.
Minato offers Sandry a shrug. ]
Maybe it'll all go back to normal one day.
[ They'll wake up, and everything will be back to the way it was. ]
no subject
Yes, I'm sure it will! We'll just have to be patient until then.
[ Surely, surely it will. ]
