[ Just two Persona protags who don't have a damn thing to say, as god intended --
Billy's eyes widen at the sight of the extra hay. The goat bleats excitedly before shoving his snout even further against Akira's palm, munching and licking at the hay. He is, absolutely, drooling all over Akira's hand, though it's simply clear evidence of how much he appreciates getting a restock of his snack.
It's nice seeing the typically grouchy goat getting along with someone else though, and it puts a smile on Minato's typically impassive face. ]
He likes you.
[ Or does he like the hay in Akira's hand? Perhaps it is all the same. ]
[His face doesn't show it, but Akira is absolutely mortified by his hand being sufficiently slimed by goat drool. Oh God, that's a terrible sensation. He doesn't recoil, despite himself, letting Billy enjoy his snack and drool all he likes, smiling a little all the same. He glances up at Minato and the outer corners of his eyes pinch in a catlike extension of his smile.]
[When he looks back, he looks past his hand to the tuft of "beard" on Billy's chin, and the fluff beyond, and the smile fades. His whole expression fades, really-- he goes very blank and very still, getting an oddly faraway look to him where he appears to be looking somewhat through the animal in front of him. Hm. It's not dissimilar to the strange look to him as he looked from the scarf to Minato and back, just earlier.]
[ While Minato's attention was initially focused on Akira's hand, it doesn't take long for it to shift to the other teen's face to gauge his expression. There's something distant in Akira's eyes, as though he's not quite looking at Minato, but almost through him, gazing at something before the person standing in front of him.
He cants his head a bit at Akira, blinking wordlessly. There's a tacit question in his eyes. Something's off, isn't there? ]
[ ...somehow, Minato thinks he's seen that expression before.
There's a game of chicken happening right here, and Minato's the one who's about to lose. ]
...what are you seeing?
[ The other teen's deep in thought, clearly arranging mental blocks in his head, perhaps visualizing them sliding around as he tries to assemble them into a proper idea. ]
[His posture flags, his shoulders sagging and his spine hunching him forward until he's leaning on Billy, maybe more than the goat is strictly comfortable with.] 'm not sure.
[ It's true. Billy doesn't appreciate that at all and shakes his head, swinging his horns a bit. Minato reaches forward to grab hold of one of them, making sure the goat doesn't accidentally deck Akira in the face. ]
[ Minato glances down at the goat who's bleating in protest. Barong, huh? Yeah, the goat could totally pass as a Barong. It's a good name for something approximately goat-sized, isn't it?
And then he glances up, just in time to catch Akira's pained expression. ]
With his free hand, Minato slowly reaches out to Akira. And if he'll let him, Minato carefully lays a hand on Akira's forehead. Gotta check that temperature, just in case. ]
[ Wow. It's like a forest over here. Minato has to fish through Akira's mess of bangs until he finally unearths the other teen's forehead. All that effort to discover that, nope, doesn't look like Akira's running a fever. ]
[ He thinks he might have seen Akira around at school. Maybe. But other than that, he can't think of any other ways their paths might have crossed. There's no explanation as to why Akira thinks Billy's name is Barong, and there isn't any explanation as to why both of them know that name.
[He looks up, having completely forgotten about the wallet, and just stares blankly for a moment.] My-- oh. Um-- no, I think I'll be okay. You should take Bar-- Billy home.
[ And Akira should take himself home as well. Maybe he's just tired, and that's why he keeps forgetting Billy's name.
It doesn't explain why he knows the name "Barong" too, but. ]
...yeah. He'll probably get restless soon and cause more trouble again.
[ Maaa, goes Billy, while blinking up at Minato. Truly, the face of pure innocence. Minato lifts the little goat into his arms. Billy's gone surprisingly complacent.
Minato dips his head at Akira. ]
Um, be careful by the way. I think there are weird things going on around town lately.
[ And with that cryptic warning, Minato excuses himself from the ruined scarf stand. Have fun, Akira! ]
