[His fatherly attitude toward Haru was a subtle one. He knew that her father wasn't a great person, but he was also a powerful man (not that Astralin wasn't either) so he didn't want to overstep any boundaries that may cross him. Still, he would keep the shop open late at night in anticipation for Haru sneaking out. He wasn't about to let her wander around the city at night time without a safe space to retreat to.
It's late this particular night, and he's already out in the front of the store to do his usual deep cleaning of the shelves. His eyes peeled for the younger woman, just in case she needed to get away from her father, or. Well. Do teenager things, like sneak out at night for fun or something.]
[This time wasn’t so much for her teenage fun. She’s sneaking out tonight so she can go talk to Astralin. He was always so willing to listen to her. It’s was a relief to have someone who would be willing to support her.
When she slips into the shop, she notices him doing his usual deep clean. She takes a look at the fresh bouquets and the like around the shop. ]
I feel like you can always predict when I might come.
[It's true, he was expecting her to some extent. Although, he's a bit surprised that it's so late in the night for her arrival, but still, it's welcomed one. He turns to her to smile at her rather affectionately, Haru one of the rare ones where he could easily express himself.]
I suppose I have become rather good with that these days. It is good to see you, Haru, but it is rather late. Is everything alright...?
[He had always worried with how her father is, and he couldn't help but show his concern. Concerned that he may hurt her emotionally, or even physically, but... He didn't want to think about that. She seemed okay, for the most part.]
It’s, well…everything is okay. Please don’t worry about me.
[She takes a deep breath. She knows that her defenses are pretty flimsy here. Astralin would see right through her. She should know better than to lie to him. ]
Father was displeased with my conduct today, he said I wasn’t representing my family properly. Apparently getting to know the people here and playing with the children isn’t lady-like.
You say that, but you know that I am going to worry about you anyway.
[There's a flat line that appears on his face momentarily, but it fades slowly. She was here now, at least, and he was grateful that she was. It made him happy that he could provide a safe place for her, away from her father.]
Well, you know how I feel about your father... I think you are a fine young woman, Haru. One that is conducting herself quite normally, and might I add -- friendly.
[There's a pause, and he looks back at the small stove that he brought with him, along with some ingredients.]
Yes, we can. I brought some things from the farm, and some meat from the shop. I will close up here, and we can have dinner in the back.
[Man, back it up a second. He blinks a few times, and his voice, for once, nearly cracks and seems... Angry. It's rare for him to get angry. Very rare. And it's even rarer for him to curse and raise his voice.]
Excuse me? What in the absolutely fuck is your father thinking?
[He clenches his fist for a moment, before letting his anger subside just enough to calm down a bit. Astralin gritting his teeth, before letting out a breath.]
... Pardon me. Of course you can help me cook. Is there anything in particular you want to eat? You must be... Exhausted after such an announcement.
CLOSED TO HARU

[There, she said it. The thing that has been on her mind since she came here tonight.
She’s afraid of what her father is capable of.
She hangs her head a little. ]
Could I help you cook, too? You always show me the best ways.

[Hell no. He's not letting that happen.]

Anything to keep me away from what I truly want, or anything to keep me under his thumb.
[But she’s glad she can come here for some reprieve. ]
Whatever you feel like having. I am not picky.
