Where: an empty field on the outskirts of aldrip, somewhere out of the way but not too far from town.
What: anytime before the march event - a friendly sharpshooting practice turned competition turned ??? if you want to come and practice or learn or if you just wanna come and show everyone you're the best, or if you want to just come and judge people, open to all!
Warnings: nothing yet, will mark as needed.

[ there are a few ways you'd have found your way to the empty clearing that serves as the impromptu target field for some shooting practice ... there are some hastily drawn posters that you might find pinned up at the common room of the inn or any public noticeboard, that simply says

PRACTICE DAY: we've got plenty of targets!
which ... really, doesn't tell you all that much about just what kind of practice it's meant to be?

or otherwise you might find vash walking past with a cartload of little clay plates - or you might be out on a walk and run into caitlyn critically arranging some empty bottles (and other things, go creative go wild) in neat rows along various points on the field, with little cards to mark out the distance.

honestly, however you made it here, this is just a friendly competition / friendly opportunity to practice somewhere safely without getting in the way of others! feel free to make your own top levels and mingle! teach people how to be gun safe! challenge them to some clay shooting (and welcome to up the stakes by making the throws as difficult as you want for the other person) or do an old fashioned bottle shooting - or come up with a fun competition idea yourself! shoot a leaf out of the air? you don't shoot but you want to stand around and criticise how everyone's forms are totally wrong? go wild! ]

That's what I've been doing. But I think something like that will take some saving. I'm grateful that I arrived with mine.

I'm not sure how much it'll help with what I've heard. But it's better than nothing.

Its come in handy a few times. Most monsters are still susceptible to bullets.

I'm...Glad to hear that. Though I'm not sure what'd count for a monster here.

A lot of them are just like weird animals. Some have magic, or whatever, powers. A few are real problems.

Which kind would you say are most dangerous?

The things with magic, I think. But you can't always tell when something can use it so its best to just be careful anytime you're around monsters.

[She nodded, made sense. That was how they handled shadows they didn't know.]

Thank you. I assume creatures like this...'sea monster' I've heard of are rare occurrences?

Yeah that was...weird. I don't know if there were other things like it before, but that one had minions and some sort of corruption that it spread. Beating it seemed to fix all that...

[But it still had to come from somewhere. And since they didn't kill it, it might just get corrupted again and come back for revenge.]

Well, all we can do is be ready just in case, I guess.

[That was quite a lot actually. For a second, Naoto was silent as she thought about it.]

Are you saying it could possess people?

Not...really? If you got corrupted I think it made you madder and more violent or something, but I don't think anyone was controlled. It ate away at buildings and stuff too.

I see...[So it was similar to the fog.]

And beating the creature afflicted, cured it?

As far as I know. Well, there were these glowy rocks that helped fight it, so they were probably used to. Someone made a cage out of them and stuck the creature in it and all its corruption like...drained away.

[He doesn't have the slightest idea how any of this works.]

[This place was so strange. Naoto still wasn't sure what to make of waking up here. If it weren't for others mentioning the sea creature, Naoto would have thought he'd made it up.

After a moment musing it over. Naoto held out her hand.]

Ah, forgive me. I never asked your name, I'm Naoto Shirogane.

O-oh, sorry. I'm Levi.

[He shakes; his grip is pretty weak.]

[That got him a blink. She'd been told about the time differences, but actually meeting someone who claimed to be for nearly a hundred years earlier... Then she grimaced.

Then she shook it off.]

How long have you been here? You can probably guess, but I arrived recently.

Um...I haven't really kept good track of time...like four or five months, I think. I'm pretty sure there are people who have been here at least a year.

A year? ...I wonder how many have turned up in that time.

[Senpai had mentioned being here about seven months so a year wasn't too far off. She went silent, thinking about everything he'd told her. The ammo, the monsters, it was a lot.]

I don't know. Sometimes people disappear too, I don't know what happens to them.

[Well, that hadn't been someone she'd been heard. It was bizarre, but given how she appeared.]

They disappear. Do they just...vanish when out of sight?

Um...I guess I don't know. Its not like I've seen it happen, I just know sometimes people aren't here anymore.

[Hm. She'd have to bother senpai about it later. For now, she gave him another nod.]
