[open mingle] dazai's radio show - live and in person -

Who: yall
Where: Bar Lupin
What: An open mingle for characters who would come hang out in Lupin per Dazai's radio show, especially those suffering from corruption
Warnings: cw: yall tell me if you do anything that needs warned for

Per Dazai's radio show, Bar Lupin is open as a safe haven for those who are worried about losing control due to the spreading corruption. Employees were promised extra pay for their work during this trying time, so the bar is operating as normal! Of course, as Dazai said, there are no free drinks -- it is a bar, after all, not a charity! -- but there's some good company and the relative safety of knowing that for those with powers that they fear losing control of, Dazai's ability can stop them in their tracks.

Probably!

There's enough space for quite a few people to sit comfortably -- there are tables, a private room, and seats at the bar. Still, it's not that big, so expect to be sat with another Chosen should the seats start filling up. The menu consists of your normal bar fare and plenty of drinks, but the staff (and Dazai himself) will discourage any damage done to the bar itself. If you're going to be violent to each other, that's fine (though certain members of the staff might step in) -- just don't break the bar! There are some board games and decks of cards, as well as a beat-up old stereo that some might recognize as the same kind of tech as the tablets. An early 2000s MP3 player seems to be plugged into it at the moment, playing an assortment of classical music. If anyone chooses to mess with the music, they'll find a mix of J-Pop, electronic, and some non-Japanese music in addition to the classical playlist it's programmed with. The intent is for a cool, somewhat relaxing atmosphere, but considering the people involved, that may not last too long...

[This is a mingle for the duration of the event! Surely gathering all the people suffering from corruption in one place won't cause any problems. This is of course not at all mandatory -- while Dazai recommended people come to Lupin if they fear they might lose control, no one is going to collect them and bring them here. Damaging each other should any of the more aggressive characters decide to fight is perfectly fine, but should it look like damage to the bar will be done, staff will step in to either break up the fight, or force them outside into the cold.

[There's quite a bit he has to stop and think about with what she's said. Sure, there's her mindset of being useless (though perhaps feeling purposeless would be more accurate-) aand-- alright, a few weeks after he kicked it they were going to be going up against the last major Shadow, right? So the part about it being a crucial time makes sense.

But last he knew, Mitsuru was focusing on SEES and her studies- her dad headed the Group. And then there were other board members and however the hell companies get run.

... Unless, it seems, something had changed.]

You took over?

[He'll get to the points he was going to make in a second- such as time not really existing here anyway, SEES having plenty of support with her here on an unwilling vacation (hell, a good third of the team is here.) A company as large as the Kirijo Group being able to sustain itself without micromanaging. But none of that is really as important.]

... What happened?

Technically, the board have day to day control as things stand. I was being made ready and brought up to speed on all of our affairs shortly before I ended up in this place.

[ Right. "What happened?"

He doesn't know. He doesn't know any of it and god is it suddenly even harder for her to keep speaking at all, let alone keep her voice from shaking. She didn't want to have this conversation, she didn't want to talk to anyone at all about anything. They had been the ones who had insisted on her coming to this bar...

She averts her eyes, looking towards the door again for about the millionth time since they had started talking... ]

Father was killed. Exactly a month after you.

[ Mere weeks before that hot spring trip and her arrival in Aldrip.

Wasn't it Shinjiro himself who had said to Akihiko that death seemed to haunt the three of them? It didn't exactly seem like he had been wrong in saying so. ]

[That tidbit sobers things up pretty quickly. As always, Mitsuru had been keeping all her hurt and worry and pain inside herself-- and only now, with the 'help' of the corrupting stains, is it able to slip through her carefully manicured facade. His eyes cast down for a moment with a quiet curse, if only because.... damn, that sucks. Sure, he'd never known the guy that well, but he'd seemed cool. At least, he did pretty good at acting like SEES was doing things for the right reasons.

Mitsuru, her family name and legacy, her perceived guilt in regards to their mistakes... it's always been so damn important to her. He can barely imagine what a blow to her it must have been. Before he speaks, he pauses to do the math- One month after his death, and Mitsuru had said she'd been returning from the school trip in November, so...]

...You've never gotten a break even once, huh.

[It's spoken as an apology, though he knows how useless any words like 'sorry' would be-- especially with Mitsuru trapped in such a winding, downcast state of mind.]

And then right after that, you show up here... Shit, Mitsuru. I'm surprised you held it together this long.

[It's not a jab or a dig. And with the corruption, he's not sure if she'll be able to see it as the sort of oblique allowance it is. That it's okay for her to be fucked up about it all.]
