[open mingle] dazai's radio show - live and in person -
Who: yall
Where: Bar Lupin
What: An open mingle for characters who would come hang out in Lupin per Dazai's radio show, especially those suffering from corruption
Warnings: cw: yall tell me if you do anything that needs warned for
Per Dazai's radio show, Bar Lupin is open as a safe haven for those who are worried about losing control due to the spreading corruption. Employees were promised extra pay for their work during this trying time, so the bar is operating as normal! Of course, as Dazai said, there are no free drinks -- it is a bar, after all, not a charity! -- but there's some good company and the relative safety of knowing that for those with powers that they fear losing control of, Dazai's ability can stop them in their tracks.
Probably!
There's enough space for quite a few people to sit comfortably -- there are tables, a private room, and seats at the bar. Still, it's not that big, so expect to be sat with another Chosen should the seats start filling up. The menu consists of your normal bar fare and plenty of drinks, but the staff (and Dazai himself) will discourage any damage done to the bar itself. If you're going to be violent to each other, that's fine (though certain members of the staff might step in) -- just don't break the bar! There are some board games and decks of cards, as well as a beat-up old stereo that some might recognize as the same kind of tech as the tablets. An early 2000s MP3 player seems to be plugged into it at the moment, playing an assortment of classical music. If anyone chooses to mess with the music, they'll find a mix of J-Pop, electronic, and some non-Japanese music in addition to the classical playlist it's programmed with. The intent is for a cool, somewhat relaxing atmosphere, but considering the people involved, that may not last too long...
[This is a mingle for the duration of the event! Surely gathering all the people suffering from corruption in one place won't cause any problems. This is of course not at all mandatory -- while Dazai recommended people come to Lupin if they fear they might lose control, no one is going to collect them and bring them here. Damaging each other should any of the more aggressive characters decide to fight is perfectly fine, but should it look like damage to the bar will be done, staff will step in to either break up the fight, or force them outside into the cold.

While he doesn't exactly smile still, his marked hands reach up to cup the warm beverage, taking in the heat and finding it just a little more comforting since it was given to him by someone that normally hates breathing the same space with nearly anyone else. Feels like it counts for something.]
Sorry, you're right. [He admits, his head nodding.] And Akira's a coffee expert? I didn't know that... would you say this is one of his special blends?
no subject
He used to work as a barista back in Tokyo, under the tutelage of an actual expert. I wouldn't say that he's skilled enough to be called one himself, though. [Look, even when brainwashed to be on nice default set mode he can't praise Akira too much, you know. The playful banter is part of his charm, anyway] -- but it is still a definitely an improvement to what this place used to have. Also, ah, don't worry. It's my treat this time.
no subject
He still has time to talk to all his friends here. He can even talk to Akechi right now because he's being nice. Kotone said that when she's low energy and everything, she draws motivation from her friends. He's trying that now.]
That's pretty cool, though. I don't drink coffee too much, but if this is Akira's special blend and you bought it for me... then I'll try it. [Scott finally breaks a small smile, genuine and grateful.]
Thanks, Akechi. [With that, he pulls the cup to his lips, before taking a small sip.]
no subject
but for what? Huh, strange that he can't quite remember that. Oh well.]
Just don't expect it to become a habit. [he chuckles into his hand and picks up his own cup, taking a drink of it ]
no subject
[He teases, before a small laugh breaks from Scott, an action that he definitely doesn't share with Akechi on a good day and he's far from his best. But for a moment, he almost feels normal again, like he's able to take on everything that's tossed his way, something that no one else has really helped with besides Kotone.
Weird, because they're not friends, they barely tolerate each other most of the time. Guess the unexpected kindness is really hitting him hard, huh? Or the coffee is just that good, the flavors sitting warmly in his stomach as he continues to keep his hands wrapped around the cup.]
Man, this is good. [He openly compliments.] Um, so how are you? You and Akira are doing well I'm assuming?
[First time he's asked about their relationship, but why not. Besides, he'll get to learn how Akira is doing. Scott's expecting to hear good news, based on how Akechi is behaving right now.]
no subject
[He teases right back at him. It's truly strange, isn't it? That they can sit here on the bar counter over coffee and have a friendly banter as if there wasn't any strain or hostility between them. Of course, as far Akechi knows, this is their normal dynamic. Just cozy friendship with a few jabs here and there.]
Mm. [Akechi hums as he takes another sip, placing it back on the table. He lifts his elbows on the counter and leans on his fingers.] I suppose, although, he was acting rather stranger this morning. He bolted out of our apartment almost immediately after waking up, sparing only a couple words.
no subject
[When he is feeling like himself again, maybe he'll go out and buy Akechi coffee or lunch sometime, just as a thank you. Really, a 'thank you for helping me when I was feeling like shit' sort of meal. Scott can sort of seeing him being crabby about it, but he plans on trying. Maybe he'll just pass it along to Akira and he can share it with Akechi; that will still work.
Scott's a little surprised to hear about Akira's behavior though. That certainly seems odd... but guess it's okay if Akechi is still in a good mood? A small non-committal noise leaves him, his legs swinging slightly on the barstool.]
Maybe he forgot something? Have you tried reaching out to him since then?
no subject
[He turns his head just enough to give him a mischievous grin, totally planning on cashing in that favor. Even if they don't have fancy sushi restaurants here he will find a way to get good food out of him.
The question brings a small frown on his face. No, he hadn't. So far he didn't see any acute reason for him to do so. It had only been a day and he didn't want to seem paranoid.] I was hoping I could find him here. But seems like it's not his shift.
no subject
He just hopes it goes away soon. Then he can take Kotone out for everything she's done for him... she must be tired watching over him. His thoughts almost pull him downward, but he does his best to focus on the present conversation, like how weird Akira is acting. It sort of helps when he's focusing on others instead of dwelling on his own crap.]
I haven't seen him at all. [He adds, frowning a little.] Do you think he's okay...?
[It was only a few months ago that he was kidnapped and everything, or at least, almost kidnapped. So, definitely worrying!!]
no subject
If you are asking whether he's suffering from the same affliction as you and the rest, then no. I didn't see any marks on his body. [Trust him, he checked it. Thoughtfully, he picks up his coffee cup and takes another sip of it, not wanting the beverage to go cold. Akechi's not too worried of his partner. Not yet, at least.]
You seem to be holding up rather well despite everything.
no subject
Well, that's good. Hearing that Akira's avoided the affliction improves his mood somewhat. It just felt like a lot of his friends are going through the same thing as him. Probably makes sense with how even the town itself is getting all fucked up, but doesn't mean he has to like it. Logic sucks sometimes!! Although, that still leaves the question of why Akira is acting so odd. Shouldn't they check on him? But if Akechi isn't too worried... maybe it's fine for now.
He takes another deep sip from his coffee, finding it also helpful when his thoughts turn dour. Scott's not quite sure if he's really handling things okay, but maybe he is if Akechi is complimenting him about it. That's... really nice, the thought bringing out a small nod from the sullen teen.]
Kotone said that when she's feeling like this, she feels a little better when she's around friends and everything. I... I don't know if it's working entirely, but I do feel a little better since you've started talking to me.
no subject
Of course Akira's behavior bothers him. Otherwise he wouldn't have brought it up, but he'd rather look into it himself first before raising up any further worry. There must be a logical explanation to his boyfriend's unusual behavior. And really, he'd rather not to bring their domestic issues up like that. Not without a warranted reason.
Though, he chuckles a little at that comment and leans a bit to his side, bumping his shoulder lightly against Scott's.]
Ah. So, it is the good old fashioned power of friendship, I see. [The thought of it still sounds pretty silly to him. But he supposes that the emotional effect of having someone you know around is helpful.] Honestly, it would be pretty worrisome if you went out of control. I don't think there are many who can stand up against you.
no subject
Yeah, guess it kind of is.
[Wait, does that mean him and Akechi are friends now? Since when??? Scott's not sure when that changed; the last time they met was in December and he was pretty mad about having to kiss him and everything. He's sure that he didn't give Akechi some great revelation from that kiss, so... weird. But this is a good weird, right? He doesn't want to bring it up again and risk souring his mood.
Totally fine just going along with this. It's nice anyway and right now, that's all Scott really cares about.]
Do you think you'd be able to stop me? [Honest to god question.]
no subject
Are they friends? Kinda. They might not be super close, but at least Akechi thinks that comradeship could be counted as some form of friendship. And honestly, in a dire situation like this one shouldn't be picky. Instead of reject they should lean against each other for help and support.
Though, his question makes him frown a little before huffing out a nervous laughter.]
Me? Hardly. All you need to do is take a one look at my way and I'll be a goner. Like a Gorgon herself.
no subject
Your Persona wouldn't be able to help at all?
[Wasn't he super proud of his ability, 'call of chaos' and everything? Scott is pretty sure he's remembering that right, but guess even Akechi is a bit wary of his optic blasts. Since they tend to destroy everything in their path... it's not an unreasonable reaction at all. The thought doesn't make Scott feel good, it's not like he wants to be dangerous and harmful to anyone.]
no subject
What he says next does catch his interest. Because the words don't make sense to him as they are. His 'Persona'? Is he lacking context of a joke?]
I didn't know you had read Jung, Scott. Would that make your power a Shadow, then?
no subject
Scott definitely doesn't know who Jung is either--]
Huh? No, I'm a mutant-- [He starts frowning again, unable to stop himself, because he's getting that feeling again that something isn't right. It's stupid, he should be happy that he's spending time with a friend and everything and he doesn't want to think about anything else, but.]
You talked about your Persona before and you were very proud of it. The 'call of chaos' and everything.
no subject
But yeaahhh. Everything Scott says just goes right past him. Akechi keeps looking at him with an interested expression on his face, nose wrinkling a bit at the mention of "call of the chaos." What a silly name. Like something right out of video game or something...]
No, I don't recall ever talking about the theories of psychoanalysis with you. [Although, that does sound something that he'd do..] But somehow I doubt that's what you're referring to. Is this a game of sorts?
no subject
Scott slowly pulls up from his more slouched position, hands leaving his cup as he looks at Akechi with a slightly scrunched face, as if he's the one talking weird shit between them. It's not like he lost his memories, because he still remembers Akira and him, but asking Scott if he's playing a game about his powers and stuff...
The first thought is corruption. He doesn't see any markings on his skin, although it's not like he can see all of the other teen and he's not about to ask him to strip--]
You... you really don't remember Personas?
no subject
The frown on Akechi's face deepens as he keeps pressing on, growing mildly frustrated by the question. He already stated that he doesn't know what he's referring to...]
Not without a context, no.
no subject
Besides, Akechi will probably be fine. Like everything else going on, whatever's afflicted him will run its course. What if he just wants to sit here and chat with someone and feel good for a change?]
Sorry, it's nothing really important. [Although, lying also sucks!! Scott stares down at his empty cup, just feeling like he can't win no matter what.] Um, yeah, I'm glad I still have control over my powers and everything.
[Especially now!!]
