[open mingle] dazai's radio show - live and in person -
Who: yall
Where: Bar Lupin
What: An open mingle for characters who would come hang out in Lupin per Dazai's radio show, especially those suffering from corruption
Warnings: cw: yall tell me if you do anything that needs warned for
Per Dazai's radio show, Bar Lupin is open as a safe haven for those who are worried about losing control due to the spreading corruption. Employees were promised extra pay for their work during this trying time, so the bar is operating as normal! Of course, as Dazai said, there are no free drinks -- it is a bar, after all, not a charity! -- but there's some good company and the relative safety of knowing that for those with powers that they fear losing control of, Dazai's ability can stop them in their tracks.
Probably!
There's enough space for quite a few people to sit comfortably -- there are tables, a private room, and seats at the bar. Still, it's not that big, so expect to be sat with another Chosen should the seats start filling up. The menu consists of your normal bar fare and plenty of drinks, but the staff (and Dazai himself) will discourage any damage done to the bar itself. If you're going to be violent to each other, that's fine (though certain members of the staff might step in) -- just don't break the bar! There are some board games and decks of cards, as well as a beat-up old stereo that some might recognize as the same kind of tech as the tablets. An early 2000s MP3 player seems to be plugged into it at the moment, playing an assortment of classical music. If anyone chooses to mess with the music, they'll find a mix of J-Pop, electronic, and some non-Japanese music in addition to the classical playlist it's programmed with. The intent is for a cool, somewhat relaxing atmosphere, but considering the people involved, that may not last too long...
[This is a mingle for the duration of the event! Surely gathering all the people suffering from corruption in one place won't cause any problems. This is of course not at all mandatory -- while Dazai recommended people come to Lupin if they fear they might lose control, no one is going to collect them and bring them here. Damaging each other should any of the more aggressive characters decide to fight is perfectly fine, but should it look like damage to the bar will be done, staff will step in to either break up the fight, or force them outside into the cold.

Shinjiro; OTA Thoughout corruption event! Hit me with whatever.
Part time bouncer, full time exhausted
[This might be one of the first times in his life he hasn't been worried about being the one to lose control. The corruption had been spreading steadily in Aldrip, sending people spiraling in despair or madness, and yet he's managed to avoid the tell-tale stains of black creeping up the fingers and toes. Whether it's finally a spot of good luck or just dumb chance, who knows, but he won't second-guess it.
Thought that does mean that he's one of the ones capable of looking after others who had been more affected: whether that means making sure the weirdly-quiet, downtrodden Mitsuru is actually eating something and being upright, or grabbing someone getting too aggressive by the back of their coat and hauling them to Dazai if needed-- there's plenty of work to go around, even for those who don't actually work here.
So what are you doing here? Decompressing during a quiet moment between happenings? Causing a ruckus yourself and needing someone to step in? Needing someone to grouch at you until you finally fucking eat something, you corruption-depressed asshole? Shinjiro will be all over the bar: checking in on the people he knows, desperately trying to find 5 minutes peace, or even (if you're really lucky,) making breakfast or something.]

I think you're a little too good at that.
[Yosuke himself would've gotten pulverized by those two people.]
You do that often at home?
no subject
Not 'cause I want to... but yeah, there's always plenty of dipshits spoiling for a fight.
[a certain white-haired boxing moron included.]
You basically just don't back down, but don't antagonize them either. They'll usually decide it ain't worth it at some point, even if you gotta break their nose first. This weird rot bullshit is making people a bit crazier than usual, though.
no subject
[he thinks about Yu, and how much he's flown off the handle the past few days. how unlike him it is to even do that sort of thing...]
It just makes me tired as hell, though. Maybe more people should get what I've got.
no subject
I dunno, dragging people out of the cold 'cause they don't got the effort to walk anymore kind of sucks, too.
[Though at that, he gestures to Yosuke's black, crawling streaks.]
How far've yours got?
no subject
he shrugs.]
It's all the way down my back. Wish it'd at least look like something cool, instead of making it look like I got smeared with soot.
no subject
[That's not a helpful question, but it is one he's curious about! Sorry, Yosuke.]
You know how you get it, or nah?
no subject
Who knows. I haven't noticed anyone getting completely covered by them, yet.
[at the question, Yosuke's face gets a little hot. well... about the way he'd gotten it!!]
Yeah. At least, I think so.
no subject
....Yeah? How's that?
[please share your information with the class yosuke ]
Last I heard we didn't really know how it spreads.
After said corruption
Was he happy to do this? No, not at all. Was Mitsuru going to be upset that he was suddenly taking time away from his studies to do this? Perhaps. For now, he could do was just sigh as he just didn't what to look at Shinjiro.]
no subject
Before getting dragged to the bar, the kid had punched him pretty good, considering the fact that he's a bean pole. Not enough to do more than give him a bruise that's fading quick enough, but better than Shinjiro would have expected. And now, at the bar, Ken had been handed off to Kotone and sufficiently placed in Time Out.
.... Not that Shinjiro won't check on him, too. While it may have invited old wounds for Ken (much fresher for Shinjiro given their timeline differences-), it had been mostly just an outlet for the feelings from this damn curse-rot, right? Ken's grown up enough that he probably hasn't been harbouring some barely-restrained hatred and murderous intent even now, so far from home?
(Shinjiro wouldn't blame him if he did. But-- he can't bring himself to blame Ken for anything.)
When he approaches, it's on the opposite side of the counter, keeping that nice waist-high wooden barrier between them.]
... Hey. She got you back there washing dishes or what?
['Do you still want me dead again' can go unsaid. He's sure they'll figure that part out based on how this goes.]
no subject
But it seemed that it didn't.
Instead, it just made things worse as the both of them have to deal with the aftermath. He never wanted to hurt Shinjiro, he just wanted to deal with all of his anger toward someone. It was just unfortunate that it happened to be Shinjiro out of all people.]
....Yes, she did.
[He said in a low voice before lowering his head a bit. Almost as if he was waiting to hear a scolding out of him.]
no subject
So he'll do what he does best: avoid it.]
Thank sucks. 'Specially 'cause half the people in here ain't even touching the food you give 'em.
[there's mo lunging, so he feels comfortable enough to take a seat at the bar, elbows resting rudely on the counter as he talks to Ken.]
...They remind me too much of The Lost. But at least these people still talk, I guess.
[They can start small. While this would probably be too heavy of a topic to be considered an icebreaker amongst most people, for two members of SEES it's just business as usual.]
no subject
Which makes me wonder if they'll be okay.
[He said as he kept his gaze downward toward the dishes. He didn't really want to look at Shinjiro, he didn't even know what he was supposed to say outside of this small talk. Mumbling to himself, he really wasn't sure how to continue this.]
...But I guess I'm overthinking it.
no subject
[Perhaps a surprising bit of surety, coming from Shinjiro. But this is different from the people back home who had been fed upon by the Shadows. And then many of those recovered, so long as the Shadow in question had been eliminated in good time.]
Nothing else in this place has been permanent, so why would this be?
[A shrug, and for once he's not looking away from ken. Just because the guy is trying so hard to avoid the interaction, it injects enough distance for the both of them.]
How're you feeling now?
no subject
Again, all he could do was give a sigh.]
...I'm fine.
[No, he wasn't. He just didn't know how to talk to Shinjiro right now.]

rocks up here a week late-
[During one of his few breaks, Kotone comes by and plops into the seat beside him, setting her tray down on the table. There are two drinks and a bowl of simple mixed nuts as a snack, but it's better than nothing, right? She'll deal with getting real food as soon as she's sure she's not going to be right back on her feet to bus a table.
In spite of the exhaustion rimming her eyes, she manages a genuine smile up at him as she pushes one of the brightly-colored, fizzy drinks toward him.]
I made this for you! Cranberry juice and soda water. To say thanks for your help.
-and I'm a week later than that!
Cranberry... and soda? [He's going to take it anyway. Thanks for the Shirley Temple, bestie. It's actually pretty nice and tart, rather than sugary sweet, so-- hey. That's not bad.]
No problem. There's way too much shit to do for just the few of you.
[And then he gestures at the other drink.] What'd you make for yourself?
[because you ware taking a break, right girl? You better be.]
no subject
Anyway, she just shrugs when he says it's too much, because yeah, that's pretty normal in her experience! Like, every place she ever worked back in Iwatodai was pretty short-staffed and busy, and Aldrip hasn't proven to be much different. Then again, it is kind of a crisis of their own making, shoving so many people into one small underground bar.]
You've been a big help, though! I'll talk to Dazai-san and make sure he pays you.
[She offers her drink in case he wants a sip. Since he's asking and all!]
Iced milk tea with cinnamon. Wanna try it?
[Sugar and caffeine... maybe that explains how she's been able to stay on her fee the whole time.]
no subject
No rush. I can get him to pay me after all this bullshit's over with.
[She offers her drinks and he pauses for a second- but hey, she's offering so she's clearly not worried about sharing the drink. So sure, he'll take the glass and try it before handing it back.]
-a little sweet but that's good, too. You've learned how to put a lot of things together here, huh.
[it's another way she feels so familiar- that easy, effortless look of picking up new skills and responsabilities. Just with way more talking and cheerful demeanor than the leader he'd been used to. Here she walks up, gives him a drink, thanks him, strikes up a conversation... whereas Minato would probably just sit and wait and they'd occupy the same space in a comfortable silence.
He can't help feel that the dorm in her time must have been a lot warmer of a place.]
Dazai had a good idea with this, though. For those of us who ain't sick with this crap, it gets everyone together in a place we can watch 'em, instead of running back and forth.
[Hell, from this spot at the bar they can likely see Scott and Mitsuru, each sad in their own little spaces. Efficiency!]
no subject
Akechi makes his way inside the Lupin, flashing an amused grin at Shinjiro. However, unlike the previous times, it doesn't seem to have the sardonic undertones, no condescending spark or anything. ]
I see it is a rather rowdy evening. Makes me wonder whether it's safe to come in at all.
no subject
Akechi is definitely sick with whatever this stuff is. Not bad enough to be a depressed puddle, at least. And so Shinjiro is caught for a moment, before shrugging.]
Maybe not-- But at least there's enough people here to watch your back for you. You looking for someone, or plan on staying?
no subject
I'm here to stay. Although, I was hoping I'd find Akira here. He's been acting rather strange.
no subject
I dunno if I've seen him, but I think Kotone keeps track of people better than me. She might be taking a break now, though.
[ha ha ha as if she would ever actually do that.]
If you wanna sit at the bar, though, she'll definitely notice you. You need some tea or a coffee or anything?
no subject
[A small frown form on his brows as he mulls over it. Hm, this sounds almost worrying! Oh, whatever. He'll catch the Phantom Thief eventually. But his pensive moment is broken by Shinji's suggestion, making him chuckle into his hand as he walks up to the bar counter.]
Hah. I didn't know you were one of the servers here, Aragaki-senpai. [Yes, 'senpai'.] But I'll have cup of coffee, thank you.
