Who: Kazuki Kurusu & Rei Suwa
Where: The woods surrounding Aldrip
What: Taking some animal photos for cash.
Warnings: Apparently every animal was harmed in the making of this prompt, so expect animal endangerment and abuse. Other warnings will be added if needed.
[ Been a rough few weeks for Kazuki. He's been dealing with the emotional fallout from his encounter during the fog. It continues to haunt him though he continues trying to run from it as best he can. But sleep is hard and it makes the night rough. Every day starts tired with his guilt sitting in the pit of his stomach like a stone.
He's also trying to deal with the money situation. He and Rei hadn't had much when they showed up, and though they've been making it work, it's more accurate to say that they're barely squeaking by. Kazuki hates it - the feeling of not having money - because he's experienced it most of his life. Barter only goes so far, and Kazuki is dying for some walking around money, even if he's not sure where to spend it to alleviate his stress. His normal outlets aren't really available here, anyway. But it would be nice to get a good drink every once in a while without feeling bad about it.
So work it is. And, as loath as he is to admit it, that would be a great distraction too. Fortunately, jobs have been popping up here and there, making it easier to find an odd job or two. Besides, the locals have been getting kinda touchy with the outsiders at times, so he might as well do something for them so that things don't get too uncomfortable.
Next task is dragging Rei out. Not like he needs a second person with him, but... many hands make light (and quick) work, right? He'd had to bait him by promising to leave him alone for a whole day so he could game in peace (something he's 100% not going to do) but it worked, so that's why they're out in the woods, taking shitty pictures of animals. So far, everything has looked relatively normal. As far as Kazuki can tell, anyway. Hard to know sometimes when this place definitely isn't Earth...
Also Kazuki is busy being distracted about having to use these terrible tablets... ]
Why can't I just send pictures from my phone... this thing doesn't even have a good camera. They should at least be instagram quality if this is actually for science or some shit.

But he's never been a man of words. Only actions. And there's little he can do to assuage that haunting memory for him. That's why he hadn't put up much of a resistance when Kazuki suggested taking on some work, though it's not really his thing either. Back home, these kinds of jobs were more Kazuki's thing.]
Probably doesn't matter so long as the job gets done.
[No idea what Kazuki means by Instagram quality or whatever he's babbling about. As long as the picture is relatively clear, who cares? Though so far Rei has been little help and is mostly just acting as a spectator, watching his partner struggle with his tablet, his own tucked away as he glances around tiredly at their surroundings.]
