Who: Scott Summers and anyone stopping by
Where: Scott's new home
What: Irresponsible teenager from 1980s America wants to throw a party like he sees in the movies. Also something something surviving the maze and dealing with the locals being cold suddenly. Also, it's Scott's and Jinx's birthday! Sort of. They're combining it.
Warnings: Underage drinking, teenage stupidity probably, will update as things continue!


[Maybe you saw Scott's post earlier about hosting a party, or just come across his house, the door's open and everything! Scott probably won't mind if it's someone he dislikes, but he'll just have to suck it up anyway! It's probably good there's not a lot of furniture in the house yet, leaving the space more open for people to mingle and play games. If it gets too crowded, well, there's always the front yard and a couple of rooms to hide yourself in.

Of course, it isn't a party without:

Food: Scott's only scourged up snacks on his end, along with a couple of pizza boxes and sandwiches, so potluck style, bring something that will amaze the other guests or make use of the bathrooms in the house looking at you Mitama.

Drinks: Along with some water and juice, it wouldn't be a party without alcohol. There's a keg of beer that he somehow acquired that people can pour into their cup. Sadly, he doesn't really have any other alcoholic drinks unless someone else decides to bring some!

Games: Any stereotypical game you can think of will probably be played, from Truth or Dare, to Seven Minutes in Heaven, Never Have I Ever, Would you Rather, Spin the Bottle, and etc. There's also a table where people can set up a game of beer pong at.]

[Oh, good, someone he recognizes and isn't annoying. Quentin considers her request for... way longer than any decent person should — not that he's ever been confused for a decent person — but he does eventually swing his legs around to sit normally and in the process make room for her.]

Alright, Red [and no, he still doesn't know her name. It's not important.] but just because it's you. Summers or any of the Scooby gang would be S.O.L.

[This is the highest compliment he can give, okay.]

Do actually colour her surprised, honestly. It doesn't show up on her face much, since most stuff doesn't, but the way her eyebrows rise up betrays the fact that she definitely did not expect him to give in so easily. It makes the nickname pretty easy to endure as she moves to flop down onto the area of the couch he's freed up. ]

The Scooby gang?

[ Maybe Ange would get the reference if only she actually indulged in pop culture.. But alas, it's going a little over her head here. She has a faint idea just going by context, but still.. ]

You mean anyone else who seems vaguely scout-like? [ No, she hasn't forgotten what you called Scott before, Quentin. ]

[See, and the fact that she doesn't do anything annoying like thank him or start acting like he's a nice person or whatever is precisely why he made room for her. She gets it.]

Close enough. Usually comes along with an implication of meddling or intent to meddle.

[He glances up from his tablet and makes a wavey half-assed gesture at the rest of the party-goers.]

Looks like a bunch of meddling kids to me. Ergo, Scooby gang.

[ Ange frowns - but in that sort of way where it looks like she just tasted something way too sour. ]

Oh, not the meddling.

[ Apparently she seems to get what he means well enough. And she definitely agrees that's something she'd rather stay away from too, thanks..

Who knew she'd actually be able to relate to this guy so much. Not Ange, but here she sure is experiencing it now. ]

Can you keep them away from us? Just give them the evil eye or something if they look like they're about to head over and impose something social on us.

Oh, I've already been complaining for like the past hour. Believe me, they'll leave us alone. Probably just happy that I stopped talking to them.

[That's probably something a normal person would say with some degree of remorse or perhaps shame. Quentin is not a normal person. He just sounds like he's telling her a lifehack for bullet journaling.]

See, Red, if you want the normies to leave you alone, the stoic shtick won't cut it. They like that shit. Make them as miserable as you are, that's how you do it.

[ There's some disbelief in her voice, though it's mostly due to surprise. It's like Quentin just swore up and down to her that the sky is actually purple and has always been purple, or something along those lines.

It makes her actually look at him, a hint of surprise in her facial expression. ]

How do you know that? And why would they like talking to someone who's stoic? [ Why are actual social people so weird!! ]

Put it this way: if somebody gives you a present, is it more interesting if they just hand it to you? Or when it's gift-wrapped?

[He sounds very pretentious and knowledgeable about all of this, as though he's narrating a nature document. But like, a really boring, self-important nature documentary.]

It's all about the mystery, Red. The mystery that keeps the child in us alive.

[ To Quentin's nature-documentary-narration credit: Ange does seem to believe him. At least somewhat. She isn't outright dismissing it, at least, even if the very idea of this makes her frown. ]

That makes no sense.

[ But it's said in a more complaining sort of way than a disbelieving one.. ]

Why are people so weird? Can't they just take the hint and see it clearly means someone doesn't want to talk? I thought that part was pretty obvious. Do I have to kick them to make it more clear or something?

Imagine having to listen to their insipid empty minds day in, day out. That's my burden to bear. And people wonder why I hate them.

[He's such a martyr, obviously.]

Like I said, best way to get rid of 'em is to make them regret talking to you. If you're gonna be miserable, make sure they're just as miserable.

Can't I just hire you to do that for me?

[ Because that sounds like a lot of effort. And Quentin seems to be such a natural at it? ]

I'm not sure what your hourly rate is, but I'm pretty sure we can make something work.
