[closed] Special Extracurricular Phantom Thieves?

What: Meeting of SEES and the Phantom Thieves! (sleepover)

It honestly feels a little overdue to get all of the Persona-users together in one place, but in fairness to them, there's been a lot going on! With Ken's arrival, though, it feels more important than ever to get everyone together -- if something happens again and they need to fight together as a team, it'll be good to have moments like this.

Hopefully.

Also, like, it's a chance to just relax and have fun with the others. Kotone's close friends with all of them, so it only seems natural to invite them to what's essentially a sleepover. There's nail polish, drinks, snacks, games -- it's not a party, but just a chill hangout session to her. An opportunity to sleep out under the stars with her friends while still being close enough to a house that they don't have to worry about monsters outside.

Everyone please be on your best behavior?

[Hm, okay. Akechi isn't exactly an expert when it comes to camping, being a city kid and all, but he's pretty sure that makeup and other cosmetics are not usually considered as your typical activities.]

What are you doing?

Contemplating the meaning of life in colorful enamel, [He fires back without hesitation, and then looks over, hands on his hips.] ...you probably got your nails done as the Detective Prince, yeah? Ever done it yourself?

[And he offers a roll of eyes as return. Then he, too, leans over the container and looks at all the flashy colors, wrinkling his nose a bit.]

Correct. I was well known for wearing the gloves but my manager and TV producers still insisted that I had my nails done. Then there was a sponsorship with a nail salon where I got a manicure a few times. [He likes to be fancy] And no, I haven't. Is that what you want to do? Paint our nails and braid my hair.

[He gives him a teasing smile, knowing exactly what he's doing here.]

[He gives him a flat look, rolling his eyes.]

First, my hair's too short to braid, second, you'd kill me if I tried. But-- I've never had the patience to let it dry completely, Ann did mine once but I fucked it all up because I forgot it takes three years to dry.

[He reaches out to take a thick, black curl between his fingers.]

If we had spare ties we could do something with this mess. And besides, to me it sounding like you're just lacking the discipline here.

[He doesn't flinch so much as he just stands still and blinks owlishly at Goro behind his plano lenses, squinting at the second bit.]

I don't lack discipline, my hair is just a force of nature.

Ah. No, no. [He shakes his head and lets go of Akira's hair.] I meant with your nails. You'll have to learn how to keep your hands still.

I take it you've never been at a salon?

[His mouth quirks into a slight frown, and he tosses his head to shake out the curls, as if Goro could have just tamed them with his touch.] I'm not good at sitting still, you know that. [It's the ADHD, probably.]

[He shakes his head again, this time in a "no" gesture.] Not exactly? I did a modeling thing with Ann once and they did our nails, but they had a funny little lamp they stuck my fingers in so I couldn't fidget.

Ah, yes. Unfortunately this place hasn't invented UV-led lamps just yet, so we have to make do without it.

[Then he reaches to pick up couple of red nail polishes with a different shades, lifts them up one by one against Akira's face.]

But I'm quite sure I can fix your fidgeting for this.

You-vee whats...?

[He stands very still again while Akechi gauges rouge polishes against his skin.] ...that's a loud choice, [Quietly, and then in realization:] ...oh, my gloves.

It's the lamp they most likely put your hands under. The UV light helps to cure and dry the nail polish, I believe they're mostly used for gel based products.

[Look how happy he is when he gets to explain stuff!

He drops couple of the colors back to the crate, leaving him with burgundy, crimson and fire red.] There are more neutral and nude options too, if you feel like these are too much for you. No black, however.

[He's confused by the three different shades of red, but shrugs his shoulders gently.] I'm approximately at your mercy, here.

[Look, not all shades are created equal. And if he's going to paint your nails you bet he's going to do a good job. As tempting it'd be to pick the fire red color to match his gloves, he decides to settle on more calm and dark shade of burgundy.]

Good. Now, sit down and give me your hand.

[He sits down cross-legged, resting his forearms on his knees and holding his hands out with a perplexed look. Like this?]

[He picks both base and top coat polishes, and sits down in front of Akira. With a quick flick of a wrist he unscrews the base coat, settles it down next to him, takes Akira's hand to his and begins to cover his nails with the transparent gel.]

First we do this to keep your nails in a good condition. [He hums and moves to another hand.] Though I'm not sure if how much this can do to your hands.

[He's not surprised, but still somewhat impressed by the ease with which Akechi takes to painting his nails. Sure, this first coat is transparent, so maybe it's more forgiving, but he still seems to be pretty comfortable with what he's doing.]

I used hand creams, from the girls, but I dunno if that affects nails at all.

[Well, for Akira's credit his hands aren't in the worst condition they could be all things considered. It's not uncommon for baristas to have faint cuts, burn marks or otherwise roughened skin around their fingers or back of palms.]

It does. A little. Though you'd need to take better care of your cuticles. At least you don't seem to chew on your nails.

[After he's done with the base he moves to the actual color. This time his hold on Akira's hand is more firm as in to make extra sure that he's gonna be still.]

Now don't move. If you fidget too much not even my accuracy is going to be enough to safe you. And I'd rather not to get red all over your fingers.

[They are, at least, very clean. His nails are well-groomed, but always kept short, and his hands are clean if a little rough. He has long fingers, "piano hands" as some might say. He watches Goro apply the base coat curiously, looking over his cuticles when he mentions them.]

Ah, no, my mom hated it. She used to put that nasty-tasting oil on my nails as a kid whenever I chewed them.

[He sits a little straighter at the warning, and breathes very quietly to keep from moving much at all, watching with rapt attention as his fingernails get bathed in burgundy.]

[Akechi has spent his good time to admire Akira's hands. He's paid attention to Akira's movements when they played darts and poor, or when he fearlessly wielded his knife in metaverse. And of course, there's now their new, uh, "activities" that demands attention to his hands. There's always been a certain kind of rough finesse to him, something that only comes to you naturally. Yet again something that he can't help but compare to his own, learned and forced gracefulness.]

She's a smart woman. Though, I guess I should thank her for reacting so well to punishments.

[He flashes a quick wolfy grin at Akira before focusing back on his nails, starting to paint over them with slow and careful strikes. He does rather good job for an amateur, keeping the color within the frame.]

[Akira has a bizarre sort of clumsy grace not unlike that of a cat falling off a windowsill. He'll make it look intentional, be entirely nonchalant and fine about it happening, but he absolutely probably looked like an idiot actually doing it.]

[He hums at the notion of his mother making good use of punishment, shrugging. He's equal parts too focused on Akechi's handiwork and traversing the vast empty expanse of his own skull to bother to verbally reply, outside of making a noncommittal hum of sound.]
