1 - Early morning

[It's very early in the morning when a series of loud sounds of a gun firing can be heard at the Orchards. Some people wake up and go for a jog as a first thing in the morning: Akechi, however, decides to use his time to do some shooting practice with his handgun. He's gathered empty cans and bottles and what have you, placed them on top of the fence, using them as his makeshift targets for his practice.

He's located rather close to the infamous statues. And whoever decides to approach them will notice that two of the statues have taken a quite bit of damage. There's almost completely demolished statue on top of platform reading: "Goro Akechi, the Saviour of the Aldrip". The another statue that has gone through some remodeling is the one belonging certain Osamu Dazai. The said statue is actually in pretty OK condition, if you didn't count on the missing head.

Oh well! If that certain Radio Show is to be believed the locals would repair the statues the next day so, who cares.]

2 - It's Called Fashion

[One thing that modern people take granted for is a wardrobe of clean clothes. It had been February in Akechi's world when he had arrived here, leaving him with rather ill-suited outfit for Aldrip's climate. So, he's slowly been collecting himself a new set of clothes after getting paid for helping around the locals with their matters... Matters, which often seemed require someone to do some light, casual "detective" work for them.

With a thermos full of fresh coffee in hand, Akechi's going through the shops at the downtown, checking out the clothing available and hoping to find something that did not scream late 19th Century couture. It's just then when his eyes land on rather... eerily familiar outfit on display window]

--What?! [He lets out an involuntary shriek and drops the thermos, spilling coffee on the ground. His eyes are wide and perplexed, faint shade of red spreading over his face. Look, he's not embarrassed. Just shocked that's all.]

3 - Leopard Can't Change Its Spots

[So.. Goro Akechi had been very satisfied to bury the famous Detective Prince and leave that line of work behind him. And yet, here he was, accepting work from the locals and helping with their everyday troubles. Their issues hardly hold a candle to the crimes he'd solve back in his own world. After all, he had been more familiar with the uglier side of society and working with the violent crimes. (Okay, he might've been the true perpetrator in most of those but shhh..)

But still, the work kept him busy and it'd be to lie that he didn't find any satisfaction solving the cases. No matter how mundane they were.

He's currently sitting in one of the coffee shops, a fresh cup of coffee in front of him and going through the notes about the current case he's working on. Something about local jewelry shopkeeper finding that some of his products were missing and replaced with replicas of sorts. Akechi honestly suspected that it was the nephew he kept as a worker there behind the crime but so far there wasn't any solid proof.]

[This just had to be the day Sumi decided to resume her early morning jogging, huh?

The sound of gunfire startles her at first, making her skid to a stop, heart pounding in her chest. It takes her a minute or so to realize it doesn't sound like someone trying to fight with a gun, and slowly she makes her way over to see wtf is happening.

Honestly, it's a relief to see it's Akechi. She waits until he's spent a round before making her way over, one hand raised in greeting]

Akechi-senpai! You're up early!

[Akechi had just fired one round and in process of switching the magazine to a full one when he hears a familiar voice calling out to him.]

Ah. Yoshizawa-san. [He nods as a greeting, not all that surprised to see her up and about at this time.] I could say the same thing about you. I see you've adjusted well to this place.

[Shopping isn't nearly as high on Kotone's priority list as it is on, say, Yukari's, but she likes to browse and window-shop sometimes. She'd actually been looking for a swimsuit; with how warm the afternoons get, it might be nice to walk to the beach and go swimming!

The sound of a shriek catches her attention, and she pokes her head out from the store to see -- ah.]

Hey, Akechi-san, [she greets, as if they're just passing each other normally. She points.] You dropped your coffee.

[Aldrip truly is a small place!

Akechi jolts, straightening his back automatically when he's addressed, almost as if he just got caught red-handed doing something bad.]

Shiomi-san. Good afternoon. [He greets her back, trying to appear casual to her.] Ah! So it seems. I suppose my hand isn't as healed as I'd like it to be.

[Lies. It's perfectly fine. He bends down to pick up the thermos, closing the lid once again.] A pity, though. To waste such good coffee.

[Fortunately for him, she keeps her incredulity from her face. That hadn't been a shriek of pain -- that had been a shriek of surprise, or maybe embarrassment? But she'll let him have that for now in favor of heading toward him, trying to see what might have startled him so.]

Is it good? [she holds out a hand as if she might take the thermos for herself. Let her try! Also-] So what startled you so badly?

Hm? Oh, this. [He raises the thermos in his hands, brows knitting into a slight frown before handing it over.] It might not be good anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if sand got mixed to it after that.

[It's ok. He'll have Akira make him more later.

He flashes her a polite smile and steps forward, gesturing to her that they should move on.] Nothing much. I was just deep in my own thoughts. Now, shall we?

[Too late, she's already unscrewing the lid and peering inside. If there's any sand, it probably sank to the bottom, so she takes a cautious sip anyway and lets out a delighted noise.]

Oh! It's delicious! [She hums contentedly as she looks around again. He's in an awfully big hurry to get away from here, huh...? Come to think of it, that impressively gaudy uniform is new. Does he recognize it?

Her eyes sparkle with just a hint of mischief as she turns on her heel, thermos still in hand,] I was just thinking I could use a second opinion. As an idol, you probably have a good eye for fashion, right? [She fully intends to head right back into the store.

Look, at least it's probably a better look on her than the wan half-smiles and distant looks from the last time he'd spoken with her? Progress, of a sort.]

Yes. It's Akira's blend. I'm certain he'll make you a cup if you were to ask him.

[And for yaldabaoth's sake, please stop Kotone. Akechi... just follows her, not paying any attention to the uniform hanging on the display.]

Yes, I'd say I have basic knowledge of the fashion. Back in my world I needed to keep up with the current trends when it came to clothing and other popular items. I'm not entirely sure my knowledge will help you here, Shiomi-san.

Ooh, I didn't know he was a barista. He only told me he made curry. Have you had it before? He showed me how to make it once.

[She's not flexing on him, she's simply sharing a fact. Anyway, she moves further into the shop, not wanting to lead him straight toward the uniform just in case.] Anyway, if you had to keep an eye on trades in the modern world, I'm sure you've also picked up the trends here, right?

[Waving a hand, she beckons him closer as if to share a secret.] I'm gonna probably modify some of this clothing anyway. You know, personalize it. I just don't want to get in trouble for standing out too much.

I don't know about that... [She laughs sheepishly, wiping off her forehead as she approaches at a more even pace.]

It's more like doing familiar things helps. It's all a little crazy. I keep waiting to wake up back home. [She watches his gun, relaxed and comfortable in his presence.]

How have you been adjusting?

Yes, the cafe he used to live in also served curry. He's good but his skills are no match to owner of the said place. [Look, he can't praise Akira too much!! Must keep the boy humble.

Akechi reaches out to hold the door for her as she wanders in, respect women and all that jazz, right. He's idly looking at the clothes in racks. The old-fashioned yet very varied selection makes him think back to that one second-hand store in Kichijoji.]

Hm? [He leans in closer and huffs in amusement. ] I honestly don't think any of the locals will mind. We are set out to be different already, so standing out is almost given in this place.

Yes, I believe that it a smart move. Staying idle while fiddling our thumbs will only make us passive. Finding something to do and keeping yourself busy is vital in situation like these. We can't allow ourselves go soft.

[There is a small twitch of his lower lip when Sumire mentions the 'home'.] I'm afraid it won't be that easy. But we'll find a way, like always.

I'm doing just fine.

Mm. I believe in us. I still need to find a gun too; it feels kind of weird being without weapons in such a weird place. [She rocks on her heels, looking at the targets and the statues.]

Is all of this 'just fine'...? [Seems sus.]

( Yeah, it's not likely Kate is going to find anything to wear. Not just because the outfits here are a far cry from anything she would like to put on, but because her purse is still woefully empty. Instead, she trawls the streets of Aldrip, scanning building after building for a place to work.

And maybe for a shop that's heard of hoodies.

Unfortunately, the shop she's exiting doesn't have any spaces going and all the clothes look like they're more trouble than they're worth to put on. The attempt at a polite façade has well and truly vanished from her face, replaced by a more typical scowl, and she's just about to pack it in for the day when someone's yelping what rings in her ears.

Fuck's sake, what's he crying about— )

... That's ugly.

( But really worth that racket? Sus. )

You can purchase one from the local smithies. Although, they might not be familiar with your choice of a gun so it'll take some explaining to do. If you want I can accompany you. I was thinking of a requesting a blade for myself.

[Akechi looks over his shoulder, eyes briefly visiting the demolished statues.]

I assumed you out of all people would understand not wanting a statue like that. Or am I wrong, Sumire Yoshizawa? [Look, they both have identity issues!!]

Oh yeah?

[Methinks the detective doth protest too much. She hums when he says they're meant to stand out, bouncing over to the front of the shop.]

What about this, then? Doesn't it look like something from a movie?

[Yeah, she's pointing to the white uniform in the window with another sparkle in her eye as she glances back.]

Weren't you called the Detective Prince? It'd be perfect for you.

[She's joking, but also, hm? Is this what he'd been shrieking about?]

[Akechi has crouched down to pick up the fallen thermos, feeling a little irritated for wasting cup of good coffee more than making an unintentional mess, when he hears Kate's evaluation of the outfit and..

He's kinda offended, tbh. All of the metaverse outfits were dramatic and silly to some degree, true, but they were supposed to be representations of their hearts. So, to call it ugly is.]

Quite harsh judgement. But I suppose the design stands out.

[Of course it's in his luck that Kotone decides to single out his outfit. But then again, she's right. It's not something you'd see everyday, making it to stick out like a sore thumb. He sighs and places hand on his hip, assuming his signature gay pose.]

Maybe. But that is too flashy for a detective, Shiomi-san. We're not exactly known for such bold outfits.

But why don't you try it out?

I wouldn't mind that! I feel like I definitely can't get it wrong if you're there to help.

[She full on flinches at the use of her full name, looking unhappily at her own statue that proudly states Kasumi Yoshizawa as a savior. She half-hugs herself, rubbing her arms and pointedly not looking at the statues.]

...I'm just trying to ignore them. It's not like there's anything I can do about them at this point...

I get it, though, just... It seems like it'd draw more attention. And anyway, that doesn't explain... [She glances to Dazai's defaced statue] You're too good of a shot for those to not be deliberate.

Hmmm... Maybe I will!

[She winks at him, even as she waves for a store attendant to ask if she can take the uniform off the mannequin. The material doesn't actually feel as heavy-duty as she might expect from such a formal-looking jacket? Honestly, it looks like fun.

She will absolutely try it on for herself, though, shrugging the jacket on first. It's far too broad in the shoulders for her, and the sleeves overhang her hands as she strikes a pose like a Featherman character.]

Do I look like a Phantom Thief?

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case.

[He sighs and switches his gun's magazine to a full one.] According to that one radio show the locals will repair the statues. So there is no harm in using them in target practice.

[Okay, what the actual fuck.

The jacket doesn't look too bad on her despite being few sizes too big, but still Akechi can't help but laugh when she assumes the pose. Thank god Phantom Thieves were self-aware most of the times for silly antics like that.]

Haha. Maybe a little, here. [He chuckles and steps closer, gesturing her to lift her arm to the left more and place another one close to her chest.] Now, just lift your chin up a little and pose.

[Sumi watches Akechi for a moment before she clasps her hands behind her back, walking up and leaning forward to peer around him and up at his face.

There's a lot she could say, a lot that goes through her mind, but...None of it feels like it'd be great to try and bring his attention to. He's a smart guy. He surely already knows that he seems to have a problem with the radio show. Soo Sumi won't ask about it just yet.

Instead:] Can I have a try?

[She giggles a little when he chuckles, giving him a bright smile. It's nice to see him relax for once, especially in the aftermath of Everything, reassuring that no matter how bad things might get, they could still get better with enough time and effort. Following his lead, she tightens up her pose and lifts her chin authoritatively, channeling all the righteous power her more Justice-oriented Personas granted.]

Do you have a catchphrase? Like... I'll solve the case to your heart!!

[She is cringe, but she is free.]

[He doesn't really mind that a such show exists, Akechi actually finds the concept entertaining enough. His gripes are with the host, hence the headless Dazai-statue.

Akechi flinches a little back when Sumi steps into his own space, brows knitting into a faint frown. He's just about to ask if he has something on his face when she presents her question. He shrugs as a response and hands over the gun]

Careful. We're not in metaverse anymore. It is going to be much heavier and kickback with a force. You need to have a good grip or you'll dislocate your shoulder.
