So, as the hilarious cosmic fates of the universe would have it, today is Spock's birthday, two days after Jim's trainwreck disaster. He's never been one for celebrating his own quote 'special day' - but at the risk of sounding like a total, sappy loser, Spock entering the world is most certainly cause for celebration, in Jim's humble opinion.

Let it not be said Jim isn't culturally sensitive, however. He'd restrained himself to one singular bunch of balloons (which is only four balloons! Only four!); this is tied to the kitchen chair. A banner Peter made hangs from the ceiling with two stringy webs - it's hideous, the letters getting slightly panic-smushed at the opposite end, where it's apparent he would have run out of room had he continued the letter spacing from earlier in the sign: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. SPOCK! There's a cake on the table, vanilla with a swirl of chocolate - it's Jim's third attempt, the other two cakes (and really, it feels generous to call them cakes) resting firmly at the bottom of the trash can. He really wanted to get it right, and he's hoping the chocolate has more of a pleasantly-liquored cake effect to it, rather than an overpowering guzzling-synthenol-on-a-Friday-night type of vibe.

Time will tell, on that one.

Jim also has a present for Spock - notably better wrapped than the Christmas present, though the shape of it is unique. Spock, no doubt, will recognize it by the carving on the top - it contains a blend of Vulcan tea leaves, spiced and somehow fresh, despite the fact that Jim had happened upon it by accident down at the dock market. How these items kept appearing, he wasn't sure - but they always seemed to show up right when he needed them.

The one exception to Jim's restraint is the birthday boy party hat he will be spending most of the evening cajoling Spock into wearing. Time, again, will determine whether or not that endeavor is successful.

Whether you're the first to arrive or find the proceedings in full swing, the gathering will be intimate and - okay, well, not understated, but fairly 'lowkey', as the kids call it these days. If you're in the mood for some cake, stop on by!

[ ooc: feel free to TL / do whatever you like throughout the nebulous party times~ If you want Jim to tag in, just @ me in the subject and/or hit me up OOC! ]
