[ WELP, here they are. he squints against the new light, steps into the snow. it's hard to feel much of anything but relief when he'd been a little pessimistic about that. ]
[ karasawa, even having braced himself, takes the hit square on. unfortunately, with his feet having been glued to the floor and without much allowance for countermeasure, he loses his balance and falls onto his ass. whump. give him a second, while he massages his jaw, ]
I was foolish to challenge you... [ broad grimace. he sounds utterly, if humbly, defeated, ] It's against my code of honor. But,
[Unfortunately for Caitlyn the boy savior was a green horn without any prior knowledge to his stay here in Aldrip, the budding friendship which had bloomed during the course of their time spent together having wilted away. Sure Ekko wasn't one to hold a grudge nowadays but whilst she was captivated by Ambessa's spell and taken under her wing the pair had incited a great deal of pain towards his people which was not easily forgivable.
That being said her apology does not fall on deaf ears, Ekko's stern gaze softening if only just as he regards his counterpart. A solemn sigh escapes his parted lips with a shake of his head, arms crossing over his chest as he thinks more rationally without defaulting to his old ways of persecution against those who might have wronged him or others who were affected.]
What happened to you, Caitlyn? I thought you were better than the rest of your topside counterparts who looked to subjugate the masses because of a select few?
[Head hung low as his hands curled tightly into fists.]
You earned my trust...But what you did spat in the face of everything we hoped to achieve to bring peace between our people.
barf. i dont do formal. stuffy parties with stuck ups isnt my cup of tea.
but u'll get the hang of it, fuzzfoot. the names jinx, the new AND improved janna. not that u'll know who *she* is, her name isnt important around this joint. BUT!!! im a pretty big deal here. aldrip's number 1 favorite, just ask anyone.
[Havemercy laughs, a surprised sort of sputtering laugh at that abject shock about his toad-experience. This is what they're learning about each other, it seems-!]
Acidic spit? I should be grateful I've never seen one! And no, I haven't. I was raised on a space station.
[He shrugs, like, obviously that explains the rest, why would they have a large ecosystem of animals besides the rogue pet, usually only passing through, because it was a literal space station— but, right, he did speak to a young man who didn't know what spaceport was, so...]
There isn't a lot of spare room for toads of any size, you see.
[That answer makes him blink, then furrow his brow as he looks - up at the sky, instead of towards the city itself, to process it. It's daylight, but if he could at least spot a moon or a planet, he could take a wild guess...
No, he's got nothing. Hm. He gives the coffin a kick with his heel, not looking away from the sky.]
I did! I had to beg my way out, can you believe it? Terrible first day.
[Sorry, sorry; he holds his hand up briefly, placating and assuring he won't be doing that again. It was just, you know, there. Call it his big brother instinct to fix messes, even little confetti ones.
That said,] You know, that's quite an idea. In that case...
[There's a low ledge here, snowy, probably hiding a few poor plants under the lumpier parts; he dusts off a space with his hand and pivots to sit, unstuck knee crossed over the other, arms folded, to stare down the toad. It shoots another paper at him.
As an afterthought, he holds a hand out to Viktor, this time to shake.] Havemercy, by the way. It's my name.
Uh, well, a bunch of different types. Normal animals, I guess, but there are also monsters so if you're going to leave town its a good idea to take a weapon or something.
Oh no, not for me, thank you. [He holds up his hands as if the animals and monsters are coming right now, and will be placated by his polite gesture. Goodness, no thanks!] I work in a library! I've never held a weapon in my life.
[Technically true, unless his pocketknife counts, but that's like, barely past a letter opener.]
[ It very much so sounds like a fairytale, she knows, so no offense taken. ]
Well...
[ Koharu does trail off tentatively, though, if only because the last time this very question came up, the reaction wasn't the most ideal. How... how should she answer this. Hm. ]
Not... quite? So that's what we're there for.
[ She has got to come up with a better response. ]
[She's not the only one who's been in the library for who knows how long; Havemercy has been working as a librarian for a handful of years, so it only made sense to wander into the nearest library here and see what he could find. Particularly after speaking to someone who couldn't even name the planet, surely there must be decent information here somewhere...
But then he's hungry, and he aims to wander back to the inn for something hot to eat, nose in a book as he approaches the door— and swiftly gets shoved back inside. A few stray snowflakes spray off on contact with her and hit him in the face, and the back of the book (he will draft a letter of apology), which gets him to blink and startle out of his reading daze somehow more than being shoved did.
He boggles at her for half a second before simply turning to lean his shoulder against the door with her, just in case.]
Ah, the rumored after dark dangers. What was that, exactly? It was—wet?
If you want to go out exploring you can, but you don't need to. There are a few other cities but they're kind of closed off so its mostly just Aldrip. There are more monsters out further from town, though, so people probably don't go out much unless they have a reason to.
No, I'm not very adventurous. Staying home—staying here—is fine by me. But I'd expect more adventuring from the indomitable human spirit, or whatever you'd like to call it.
"Don't like to deal with normies usually. So probably not, and never heard of Piltover. They could ferry us somewhere good at least, walking is a pain."
He was certainly a yordle though, so it wasn't like it wasn't unheard of for them to be in strange places. After all they're all just random wads of magic. Ugh why did she have to deal with this?
"Vex, I was from Bandle City. But Yordles really suck. All the colors there make me wanna puke, so I left."
Though she did occasionally go back only to torture her family and bask in their disapproval. From behind her there was a nudge as she swatted an arm out a little at the one bugging her.
"This is shadow, he's a pain but useful so I put up with it."
