[ It is extremely tempting to call Kurama's bluff here. Marco gives the option some serious consideration purely because of how funny it would be...but no, even he's got his limits when it comes to jokes going too far. ]
< Is it any more unusual than a human having telepathic powers? I'm just a cute little bunny, but as far as my cute little bunny knowledge goes, that shouldn't be possible either. >
[ Kurama's next comment immediately wipes all traces of snark out of Marco's system though, because what the what. He sits up, long ears cocked forward and eyes alert, too preoccupied to bother continuing the charade. If what this guy is saying is legit...if there was some way to detect whether there was more than one living signature in a body...that could change everything. Maybe not enough to deal a decisive blow against the Yeerks - he's pretty sure nothing short of smuggling a nuke onto the Blade ship will do that - but it could at the very least turn the tides of the war.
Of course, that's assuming what he's claiming is even real, and Marco's taking that with an entire ocean's worth of salt. Frankly, 'energy signatures' sounds like it should belong in the same category as tarot cards and horoscopes and other mumbo-jumbo bullshit to him, but then again he would have said the same about an alien invasion a few years back. Still, doesn't mean this mysterious power works on Yeerks - and even if it did, none of this matters if he can't figure out a way to get back home anyway. ]
< They don't smell dead, if that helps. They smell like normal humans...a little too normal. You'd expect to find at least a couple of people with nasty B.O. or garlic breath or something distinctive, but everyone here smells pretty much exactly the same underneath the temporary outside scents. > [ His end of their information sharing bargain held up, he then adds casually: ] < Hey, this life energy sensing power of yours...is that something anyone can learn, or is it special for telepathic humans only? >
