[ The man curses under his breath as he gets hit with an elbow, but otherwise doesn't make a mention of it, perhaps because he's too busy being completely flabbergasted by this turn of events. So... she wasn't just talking out of her ass? He can barely feel any weight on his shoulder... she's lucky he didn't overdo it and threw her over all the way, or else her face would be kissing the ground right now. ]
Wha... How?!
[ Hopefully she didn't expect him to admit he was wrong, or worse yet, apologize... there again, it's probably clear from their brief interaction Ragna isn't the kind of person to do that sort of thing. No, he's got a much more pressing issue on his mind right now: ]
[ The busy streets of the bazaar, the sounds of shopkeepers calling out to advertise their goods and the sight of people putting on street performances for a handout reminds Miller of a stroll through a busy market back in his own home, like the one in Prospekt Mira. It's strange, although still a little nostalgic, because in the recently upgraded city of Aldrip, it almost seems that there would be no need for peddling on the streets. There's a store here for everything. Every building is lit up from corner to corner. Yet with the way things tend to happen here, one thing to the next without rhyme or reason, it ultimately doesn't throw him off much.
Allowing himself to move in step with the crowd, he casts a curious gaze at the young lady juggling on the corner--but he had every intention of continuing on his own way. At least until something rushed past him. It was a scruffy dog, brushing against his legs as it darted by to interrupt the show. Guainaifen's balls go scattering just as the crowd does to avoid being hit, and Miller reaches an instinctive hand into the air to catch the flying number five before it collides with him. ]
Damn dog! [ He huffs, but the annoyance fades quickly into an acknowledgement. ] Well, your show must be irresistible for any mutt looking to play fetch. Probably not the attention you wanted.
[ Jim's eyes narrow just slightly at her tone - it's not as innocent as she'd like it to sound, but he only lets the beat of potential suspicion hang in the air for a moment before he lets it slide. Whatever she's reluctant to tell him, clearly it must not be entirely pressing, or she'd speak up. Right? Sure. There's a lot to parse out here. ] ...uh huh.
[ There's a lot to see, as they move out of downtown and towards the beach. Streamers have been hung, more and more vendors are hawking their wares the closer they get to the main activities. The denizens are decidedly all human, though some Chosen may stand out, enjoying the day.
Jim shakes his head, offering a sympathetic expression, running his free hand over the back of his neck, the other still attached to Bones' leash. ] I'm afraid no signal has been able to get in or out, as far as we know. We're - it's unclear. The prevailing theory at the moment is that this is some kind of advanced simulation.
We were brought here intentionally. The Chosen. [ They'll have to stop somewhere and get her some new clothes; she'd be welcome to whatever he and Spock have, but Jim doubts it would fit her anywhere near comfortably. ] Our captors call themselves the Council. No one's managed to get a good look at them, or figure out why exactly they're doing this.
You, me, and my CSO are the only Starfleet personnel I've seen here so far. No other Federation citizens have arrived. There's also - [ Jim exhales and shakes his head, offering Tendi a helpless shrug. ] - we've been dealing with the issue of the multiverse as well. Most of the Chosen all hail from different timelines and universes.
Which would explain why your rank is on your collar. Regs from my universe have it on the sleeve. We're also the furthest in the future, from what I can tell; at minimum 100 years from most of the others.
[ And in Tendi's case, well. Now that was doubled. ]
Yeah, I got the same reaction, no, no - I'm totally fine, don't worry, let's, uh, I guess get you settled, and I can explain everything I know, which isn't much, but it's something, which is definitely better than nothing, right?
(but he gets it. with his last moments being thanos and his plan going way too well for him, he arrived with despair dictating his every move. can't judge.)
I could say the same to you. But it's good to see you again, Ekko. [She does mean that. She still has no ill feelings towards him, or anyone else from the Undercity, for that matter. She genuinely had been trying to help, back home. It was quite the shock, seeing the truth of what was really happening there, thanks to Silco.]
I should warn you, I'm not the only one of us here. [Maybe it's a good thing he found her first. She didn't have a proper warning, when she arrived. Jinx was the first familiar face she had the pleasure of running into.
She waits until he steps closer before moving again, nodding in reply to his question. Of course, at the mention of her chocobo, she strokes Toby's head, getting a happy kewh from him.]
Yes, he is. I found him several months ago, in the woods. He had been attacked by a monster and had a hurt leg. I managed to bring him here, and was able to get him help. He's come a long way since then. [And was clearly bonded to her, though the bird was still watching Ekko curiously.]
[Ekko watches along intently as his counterpart struggles to find the rope to pull up the sail at first, a small gasp escaping him when she almost slips and falls but thankfully catches herself. The last thing he needs is for Rise to fall off and smash her head on the way down or something terrible like that he'd feel pretty awful despite forewarning that she might do so beforehand.
When she sings him praises he cannot help but shrug his shoulders a little with a sincere smile along with it. He was used to whizzing through the skies above on a far more advanced hoverboard with precise movements so this was nothing by comparison.]
I'm used to something a little more unforgiving if you fall off so this is nothing. You're doing great though we're almost there just don't slip at the finish line, alright?
[Trying his best to give her a bit of reassurance, making sure she was paying close attention again before making his next move.]
Listen up, this is one of the last steps…Go ahead and grab the middle bar on the sail. It's how you steer along with that crossbar.
[Going over it slowly he does exactly as he says, securing his hands on the mast at both hold positions. He's never actually used a wind board before so he tests how to shift his weight and turn himself first before going over it. Moving the sail back he notes it catching the wind whilst shifting it forward resisting him. Now that he had the gist of it he looks back towards Rise one last time with his final instructions.]
Make sure you keep your weight in the center and keep your arms extended or you're going to end up eating it real quick! Once you pull the sail back it's game on so you best be ready, if you want to slow down to stop twist it forward. Let's do this!
(iron spider suit on, and peter is enjoying his daily swing through the city, trying to see if there was anything that could catch his attention on the ground, but surprisingly so, it was something -- levelled? in a distance--????
oh? another spider-person? gwen has told him there are a lot of them, and he has to wonder if this is another peter parker, or whoever more there could be. can't be miles, she said miles is a teen, and this seems like an adult build. so, he'll turn around, landing on the same rooftop with his hands up to say there's peace here.)
Yes, you're right! That is a better way to think about how to make a sandcastle!
[Now, she can't deny the positive energy he was giving off! As she gave a smile, she looked at her creation before looking back at his.]
Now...I suppose we would need a good base? From how I've seen buildings are made in the human world, there needs to be something strong to hold everything.
[Caitlyn has her own chocobo, so there's really no need for her to be in the animal area, but here she is anyway, petting the chocobos and horses and other fuzzy animals as she so desires. She had considered entering the races, but decided not to, not wanting to put the stress and strain on her bird. He had an injured leg, when she found him months back, and while he had recovered well, she didn't want to risk anything that might stress him, or cause another injury.
But that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy herself and watch the ongoings. Or try to, anyway, before things were drastically interrupted by monsters.
Thankfully she learned a long time ago to keep weapons on herself at all times, so she was quick to grab her unfolding rifle from her back and rush to the sound of chaos.
She immediately spots the monsters, and the girl that's already engaged them. She won't pretend she's much for fighting, but she's a damn good shot and can give support in that manner. She watches, lines up her shot, and fires at the monster trying to lunge towards Pyrrha, with the goal of throwing it off enough that Pyrrha can dodge and strike back.]
I find myself trapped on an alien world, one meant to punish me, and I find you.
[Sephiroth prowls forward, eyes narrowing into emerald slits as he circles Vincent.
He knows he was born from a mortal's womb, but that mortal is not part of him like JENOVA is. With the parasite's power, he can ascend to a state of being Shinra would never have dreamed of.
He can become God.]
Maybe you were conjured by this world to sway me from mother's side...
[Ekko was a bit preoccupied himself so he could not fault the other when they too were lost in thought with their nose buried in the tablet. He'd never seen such a vibrant spectacle in full bloom that seemingly had taken over the entirety of the city, a festival of such grandeur the likes of which he never thought possible which sprawled through the bustling streets.
Shaking his head initially returning to his senses from the slight daze on impact the boy looks up towards the other who bumped into him. Groaning out loudly it takes a second for Ekko to accept the hand offered unto him, slowly rising to his feet to look the other directly in the eye.]
Don't apologize you weren't the only one, I should have been looking where I was going too.
