[ Strictly speaking, Matt Murdock is not actually Gwen Stacy's friend. He's actually her enemy? Her archvillain? But what the Gwen who is here doesn't know can't hurt her! And Matt has always found her fascinating. So you see, you can plan a party with no ulterior motives, even for someone who got you arrested. And really, if your arch-enemy can't throw you a birthday party, who can?

Unfortunately, without his own criminal empire or Wilson Fisk's war coffers at his disposal, he has to make do with what is actually in his budget. Back in New York, he would've rented out a penthouse. Here, he has settled for a nice park with a couple of rented tables, a balloon arch (in black, white, pink, and teal no relation to spider-woman, don't worry about it), a fun little banner (it says "Hapy Birthday Gwen" instead of "Happy" did he run out of letters? did he do this on purpose? is he even aware?), some food and beverages (he's not the police), some tunes, and a cryptic message on the network Come celebrate Gwen! to tie it all together.

He's done very well, if he does say so himself! Really, it would've been way better if Jerry could have done him one tiny little solid, but it's fine. He adapted. He always does. ]

I think that depends on your definition of "people." I killed most of the individuals trying to kill the two of us. But when their supervisors showed up they weren't super happy with this turn of events.

[It'd be a fun experiment! Honestly, if Jim just asked, Gwen and Peter would probably be all for it.

When Jim asks about Gwen's progress, of course she immediately brightens up at the subject. She's been working really hard on this, so she absolutely wants to ramble about science!] Actually-- yes? Sort of. So, I remembered the other day about an article I read about the Navy using seawater as a synthetic fuel. They split the Oxygen and Hydrogen, turn it into Carbon Monoxide, then recombine it into long-chained Hydrocarbons. [there's a lot more steps and it's way more complicated than I feel like trying to explain at the moment so!! here you go!!]

Anyway, since seawater is in abundance around here, and the goal being a synthetic product, I thought this might not hurt to try. So far, my experiments seem to be paying off. My current attempt should be ready later today, then I can compare it to the current synthetic product he uses, and if they blend without issues, it should work perfectly!

[biochem is fun!! and it's definitely a wonderful distraction from thoughts and feelings! but apparently she's not as stonewalled as she thought, because clearly Jim sees through her and she frowns a little.]

Um? Nope. Definitely not working too hard. I just couldn't sleep. It happens. [just super-teen trauma problems, it's no biggie. she'll live. she just didn't want to bother peter and get those damn puppy dog eyes from him the moment he realized something was bothering her.]
