These objects that keep appearing and disappearing, if you touch them, you... see something. Almost like you remember it. And then, sometimes, the object is gone, like someone doesn't want you to have that reminder that it was even there, that is triggered something.

The other things going missing — they don't make any sense. Building signs. Trees. Other things that people see every day but don't have any 'value'. No point to steal, no point to vandalize... so why do they vanish?
