( when one enters this seafood restaurant, jinx will most likely be seen here. due to shimmer coursing through her bloodstream and the serum itself can be used as a power source, jinx uses up a lot more energy than an average person. thus, she needs to eat to match -- which often leads to two or three plates worth of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. despite the annoying bland taste of this establishment, seafood is something that resembles home to her, and she became one of their regulars. so if you need company or a food date, come search for her! )

1. FRIDAY — ❝ it's like you're a leech, sucking the life from me. ❞
• cw: drug withdrawals.

A. — withdrawal: scratching skin, aggression.

Whaddya mean you don't know anything?!

( she snarls with her fist ball tight on the older local's clothing -- yanking him so close to her face that he might tumble over the booth he is standing behind. "I-I'm sorry!" he stammers, apologetic and frighten. 'We just sell thread and cloth. We don't know of any tower. B-But you can use our cloth for bandage use. You seem hurt...' her pinks pierces to the man as she shoves him back, he fumbles into the arms of a woman (possibly his wife) who is almost on the verge of tears. )

Does it look like I'm injured to you?!

( well, it's debatable given she has light scratch markings over her arms and her sides. and with her wearing an interesting outfit, it becomes more transparent of those scratches. regardless, jinx raises a boot to slam it on top of the booth counter -- leaning in with an arm draping over her knee. the anger seems to fizzle off, but only to twist into a grin filled with termites and ants. )

— Listen, Old timer, Jinxie here gots stuff to do and I'm gettin' bored really fast. Either fork over the info I want or someone here is gonna be a cute lil' spinning top. Ya get two guesses which one of you will be first.

B. — withdrawal: sweating/chills.
( up in the skies of aldrip, there seems to be a person zipping around on what looks like is a hoverboard. it's greenish glow trail behind every dash and twirl this rider seems to make. there's an insane crackle echoing in the air, too -- some might find it familiar while others might not. but when the rider hovers finally at a stand still, it's clear that person is jinx holding grenades in each hand. the girl bites on her lower lip in poor attempt to compose herself, but the excitement is boiling up to the surface. she brings the two devices close to her lips, yanking the silver pins out of its slots. the chompers glow and chatter in exhilaration with its ticking, then the teen drops them suddenly to let gravity do its work. )

Heads up!!

( she cheers aloud as the bombs soar down to (hopefully) an abandon structure. at contact, the area roars and rumble -- the building flies into pieces of its former self in all different directions. some big chunks, some little. and all the while, jinx stands proudly with her hands on her hips, continuously in her murderous laughter. so why did she stop blowing stuff up again? — because this is literally the best medicine to get over any problem in life. ... if only it'll solve her cold sweats.)

2. SATURDAY — ❝ it's like you're a ghost that's haunting me. ❞
• cw: drug withdrawals.

A.— withdrawal: dizziness, weakness.
( there's a lot of commotion going on near the waters. it sounds like bullets are being fired off and a monstrous roar in either agony or in rage. if one even dares to check out what's happening, they'll spot a beast being highly preoccupied with something high above them. and up above, is jinx on a hoverboard with her machine gun in hand. it's hard to tell given the distance, but she is in all smiles as she tries to bring this creature down to either submission or death -- mostly death. and then, one bullet strikes square in the middle of the beast's forehead. it falls backwards in a heavy flop, then dips into silence along with everything else in their environment. the barrel of her machine gun hisses her last tune before she stops spinning, jinx hums a rewarding giggle in her throat as she whips the machinery over her back. )

You shoulda kept quiet while she was singing! No one likes an overachiever.

( but handling her heavy weapon just now felt more than she was bargain for. with an exhausting sigh, jinx hunches over slightly with her hands on her knees to gather up more strength. but instead, she and the hoverboard (it's running low on power anyway) tips fully forward and they nose dive together on their way to hit the shallow waters. )

B. — withdrawal: scratching, bloody fingernails & skin.
( the day had been an exhausting one and she finds it pretty abnormal. because she is usually so full of energy and spunk, but right now she can barely left a leg to get up from her resting spot. even if she wanted to, her body is way too sore from all the self-injury she applied on herself. it's on accident, really. her entire skin is crawling and she wants to rip herself out of it just so the itching can stop. maybe if she can just make it back into town, she'll stumble upon someone with an ointment for itch and cuts. or maybe she'd be better off to just... lie here and sleep everything off. a forty minute nap should do it. )

3. SUNDAY — ❝ Wildcard ❞

1. PACIFY THEM — ❝ they're getting on my nerves. ❞

( jinx and [YOUR CHARACTER] seem to the long corridor with doors and glitchy green EXIT signs that hang from the ceilings every so often. what's strange is that no matter one of them try to open the door the sign directs them, it's either locked or they take them to another long hallway. and growing frustrated, jinx folds her arms over her chest with a huff blowing through her nostrils. )

Ugh! — This place is playin' with us...! You got anything on ya we can just, I dunno, blast through these walls?

( because somehow between trial B to A, her weapon got misplaced and while she doesn't show it (well), she is getting rather worried about her machine gun. what if someone really twisted picked her up and is forcing her to sing lullabies on people neither of them approve of? jinx bites on her lower lip anxiously while taking a quick look around and then at [YOUR CHARACTER], hoping they have the answer. )

ooc: jinx will get sucked away during this prompt to be stuck in prompt 2.

2. ONE WAY OR ANOTHER — ❝ i'm gonna find ya. i'll getcha, i'll getcha. ❞

( the floor is disgustingly sticky as [YOUR CHARACTER] makes their way through and there are overlapping whispers from a distance. but when the more they move onward, the more they can hear and understand them: )

'you're in danger.'
'do you know where you are?'
'where are we?'

( it seems the voices are just as lost and confused as [YOUR CHARACTER], although way ahead it appears there's someone else here with them. and by the looks of it, that person is a female with long blue braided hair lying in the middle of... black goop? strange. )

'the darkness is coming.'
'every time she comes something goes wrong.'
'give up.'
'she made a mistake.'
'name one time she hasn't.'

( the girl isn't moving or attempting to, however she does seem to be sinking further into this mysterious black liquid. it's like whatever this 'thing' is wants her to stay put in this particular trial. )

INSIDE THE FUN HOUSE (JINX SOLO).

'Wake up, WAKE UP!'
'Something is happening.'
'Something...bad. You have to wake up.'

( jinx jolts up immediately at the cries of 'the others', feeling completely disoriented at the sudden darkness that's filling her surroundings. she doesn't remember falling asleep, not when she wasn't scheduled for another thirty minute nap for another hour or so. blindly, she feels around for something familiar or solid, and luckily enough she comes to find her machine gun close by. the girl sighs in relief as she tugs her weapon for a big bear hug. thank goodness she's alright and doesn't feel to be damaged. jinx wouldn't know what she would do without her. )

'You need to get out.'
'Why bother? She's already dead.'

( ignoring the voices (and unaware vi and silco can hear them too outside), jinx stumbles up to her feet, legs weak from the current withdrawals she's experiencing. her eyes, while aglow in this eternal darkness, they're muted and dull. her body is craving for rest and shimmer, but she fastens her machine gun over her body, nevertheless. it's not like she needs the light to know how to slip her on when it's practically muscle memory at this point. maybe she should cry out a, "hello"? but making herself known might not be the brightest idea. )

'What is she doing?'
'Yeah, she isn't moving.'
'I know what she's thinking.'
'She's scaaaaared, ha ha ha!'
'You think you can fight this darkness, Jinx?
'Powder?'
'There's nothing to go back to... worst to look forward to...'
'

( scoffing off a breath, she moves forward aimlessly yet carefully -- her boots echoing through the empty abyss with her muscles tensing throughout her body. )

'Shhh... shh... shh...'
'Everyone quiet.'
'Quiet.'
'She's trying to find a way out.'
'She's trying to find someone.'
'Find someone? She isn't going to FIND anyone. In this? That's so stupid!!
'They want to get away from her. I would.'
'It's why Ekko went away. He saw the REAL her.'

( the girl halts in her step, shutting her eyes for a brief moment to not allow herself to... think about the last thing the voice taunted. it's not important right now. what's important is to figure out where she is ... wherever here is. )

OUTSIDE THE FUN HOUSE. (SILCO + VI)

( maybe one of you arrived before the other or maybe at the same time. either way, there's an enterance blocking your path. on the top of this clown display, it's written in big, purple/pink neon letters " JINX'S FUNHOUSE" with POWDER scratched out. there are speakers at the ends of this clown's hair, it plays all of the voices jinx is currently hearing inside. but there's an additional voice she doesn't hear and it's strained yet a familiar voice to only one person. )

'I saved her life.'
'The mutation must survive.'
'She... has become my latest work.'
'I need to improve her.'

( if you try to go and rush inside on your own, the door don't budge -- no matter how much you kick or punch the wall. but there is a monkey in a fancy red and white stripe coat sitting nearby on a stool. and every so often, he points his little cane to the sign above him. the sign reads, " TWO MUST ENTER TOGETHER & STAY TOGETHER INSIDE. FAIL TO STAY TOGETHER WILL GET YOU TOSSED OUT & START BACK FROM THE BEGINNING. ". team work make the dream work?)

[ It's a coincidence (some would say "fate", but he doesn't believe in such things) that Ragna is walking right past the shop when the commotion inside starts. Against his better judgement, the man glances inside, fully intending to move along and not get involved in whatever crap is happening there, but that plan goes out the window once he spots the familiar of blue braids. He slows down, briefly wondering what she's gotten herself into this time, until he hears that she's essentially threatening those random people's lives.

Great. Just how he wanted to spend his afternoon.

Cursing himself for not walking away while he still had a chance to, Ragna enters the shop with a sigh, moving over to the booth and casually leaning over it without wasting any time on greetings. ]

That's enough, Smurfette. We're leaving.

[ He drums his fingers on the counter impatiently, giving the girl a look that makes it clear he won't take no for an answer. He could just grab her and drag her out by force, but he'd... rather avoid that is possible, as their last encounter still lingers on his mind. Besides, he's not here to cause a scene and that would probably just make things worse than they already are.

Ragna turns his head just enough to toss a glare over his shoulder at the terrified locals. ]

I trust you can keep this between us, no?

[ All the shopkeeper can do in response to that is shake his head weakly. The poor couple was already terrorized enough as it was, and now this highly intimidating guy shows up, vaguely threatening them to keep quiet about this incident. Ragna actually feels a little bad for them, but he figures getting Jinx outta here as fast as he can is the best course of action at this time; he's not exactly great at deescalating situations like this anyway, so the best he can do is make sure they don't get physically hurt... emotional trauma is the whole different thing. ]

( ragna had some nerve to show up and interfere with her discussion with these people. and just because he is her partner, it doesn't mean he is scot free from her murderous glare. but she says nothing, nevertheless, beside pushing herself off the booth with a grunt to storm off. the couple was a waste of her time anyway. knowing he is going to trail behind her, jinx moves on to find a next set of locals for questioning. )

Whaddya want? I'm working.

[ Oh, he knows he's on extremely thin ice here, but that's never stopped him before, nor will it stop him now. Ragna gives the couple a brief nod that could be interpreted as anything between "keep your mouths shut" and "sorry for the trouble" before following Jinx outside. ]

Doing what, exactly? Trying to become the first Chosen to end up in the slammer?

[ He's not... actually sure how the law enforcing works here, if at all? It feels kinda silly that they gathered a bunch of criminals (or... people accused of being those, anyway) and left them more or less unattended? But that's neither here nor there. Even if there are no immediate consequences to her actions, it's more than certain the locals can make her life more difficult than it needs to be if she pisses them off enough.

... Yeah, he's no saint himself, and he's definitely taken his anger out on random people passing by before. But maybe that's why he feels like he can offer her better alternatives, even if that involves making himself the target of her ire. ]

Whatever it is you're trying to accomplish, you're not doing so great, it seems.

( she scoffs and eyerolls over his statement. get tossed up in the slammer? this place is as spineless as they come. as far as she's aware, the chosen can literally do whatever they want and the locals will still bow to them with hopeful eyes. at least, that's her thoughts on the matter anyway. spinning around to face her friend and to walking backwards, her expression doesn't necessarily let up -- if anything, just showing frustration. )

Have you ever noticed these dud for brains seem to know close to nothin' when they've been here for who knows how long?

( of course he has because he made a network post about it. but here is jinx now coming up to speed with the plot of the game. she is always late to the party. )

[You know when shit starts going down when the floor suddenly gets sticky and disconcerting whispers echo from down the passageway.

Scott slowly sucks in his breath, experienced enough to know by now that he's stepped into another one of these shitty trials or whatever, he doesn't know what to call it, besides it being crap. It's been hard seeing his friends at... not really their worst, but just their traumas and everything. Yeah, not fun for anyone. It's not like he wants to deal with all this, but at the same time, he doesn't want to abandon anyone that may need help.

So, he keeps walking forward, even as the voices become discernable to him. Yeah, he's in danger, thanks.

He keeps walking, cringing just slightly when his shoes make disgusting noises against the ground, but he eventually sees a form in the distance, one that's slowly becoming familiar as he gets closer.]

...Jinx?

[It's really off putting to see her so still and oh fuck, she's sinking--] JINX!!

[Scott shouts and hastens his pace, no longer caring about the sticky noises his shoes are making, and perhaps stupidly steps into the black goop, trying to grab her by the arms to start pulling her out.]

[ .. It's weird.

Ange got her own voices to shut up pretty quickly - the benefit of dealing with them so often that it hardly is any different when a maze suddenly forces to hallucinate you. But just when it gets quiet, it's like she can hear something all over again. For a moment she's kind of exasperated at the idea of a round two of this crap, but..

It's.. not her crap, is it? Something about the voices feels different, even the things they're saying.

It makes the girl frown and turn around, rather than moving on to the next trial. And when she spots a familiar person lying there in a pile of black goop - well, it's really easy to suddenly realise what's going on here.

Ange isn't the only one stuck in this mess. Seems like they all are, huh.

She's already heading in the direction of the black mess, but then there's that final line, and that one strikes a nerve in Ange. Maybe it's since it's so familiar, maybe it's since it annoys her so much from the sheer amount of times she has heard it, and now someone else is too.

Give up. ]

Hey! [ Ange's tone is quite different from the usual. She hardly ever raises her voice, but right now? She's outright yelling, especially since it feels like it's the only way to raise over these voices. ]

Idiot, you're not supposed to listen to them!

[ ... She-- She means well, really..

This actually is Ange's way of helping, especially since she's still approaching the other girl as she says it. ]

( he has her by the arms, and she can feel someone attempting to yank her out of wherever she is sinking into. but even with this help, jinx remains dead-weight to him. )

'Get OUT!'
'He's saving her.'
'Why is he saving her?'
'Why are you saving a murder?'
'She killed her own family, you know. Did she tell you?'
'Let her die. She deserves it.
'She's too far gone, FAR GONE! Ha ha ha!'
Vi: 'Why? Why did you do this?'

( finally though, there's a reaction out of jinx regardless her stillness. if scott listens very carefully, he can hear her muttering weakly and downhearted: )

It was a mistake... — It was a mistake.

( and despite her miserable explanation, the voices roar in laughter. one even mocks her by repeating jinx's words similar like a schoolyard bully. a hand springs out of the black liquid, seeking out to reach for the girl's shoulder in hope to bring her in the darkness more. but unable to see, the hand is wavering around blindly in all sorts of directions. )

( there's a voice, a tone louder than all the others. jinx faintly remembers it but can't quite place it either. but she knows whoever it belongs to, it has her voices whispering among themselves quickly before blaring out to ange in a response: )

'Stupid girl!'
'You know nothing. NOTHING!!!'
'Don't act like you care. You don't care for her.'
'She's a Jinx. A curse...you will die if you stay with her.'

( and all the while, the blue-haired girl remains as still and non-responsive. she doesn't seem the point in moving, not when things probably would had been better off if silco hadn't saved her. he would had found another soldier, another daughter. and her sister, vi, would be in peace with caitlyn and the new powder look-alike. her existence is merely a burden to those around her, even of those of this new life. and if she allows herself to get swallow by the darkness like this, would anyone really notice? )

[well. look who's ignoring the sign to the door. she's way too hard headed for any sort of comprehension or anything, and the voices inside is just making her more frenzied.]

Let me in, Jinx!!

[she's going through a combination of punching, kicking, and throwing her shoulder into the doors, insistent that eventually she'll get in. she hasn't even noticed she's used Jinx and not Powder...]

You have to let me in before you get hurt!!

[because she has no fucking clue what's on the other side of the doors.]

I don't care about that crap right now!

[Maybe he should care and listen to the whispers, but Scott doesn't want to think about any of that right now. Jinx is his friend and all that matters is saving her from this. They can talk about other shit later.]

Come on Jinx, you can't let some stupid black goop take you down!

[A part of him wants to use his optic blasts on the liquid, but what if he accidentally hits Jinx in the process? She's way too close. H-he can't do something like that, he can't risk it. Frustration builds in his chest, mostly at himself, and it sort of fuels Scott to try and pull her out once more, renewed by his anger at the situation.]

Fuck off!!

[He shouts at the flailing hand, glad that it's blind enough not to reach its target.]

[ Well. That sure isn't an angle he expected from her. It's not that she doesn't have a point ─ in fact, that's a surprisingly insightful remark. He tilts his head to the side, narrowing his eyes as he speaks. ]

... Sure have. It's kinda like... dunno, they're not real people? More like they're just some extras in this whole messed up drama.

[ If he was more of a gamer, he'd go for the NPC comparison, but alas, he only has a more generic one to offer. Sure, he's noticed the souls of the locals feel... kind of different from what he's used to, but he chalked it up to being from a different world and everything.

Paranoid as he tends to be, he's not sure if he wants to go down a rabbit hole of "what if" that isn't the case. ]

Either that or they're hiding stuff from us. ( a twirl to now have her back facing him, fists ball at her sides again. )

— And they are gonna tell me what I wanna know. They got two more tries with me and if they give me squat, I'll have my bombs make 'em be chatterboxes.

( despite all of her threats and not able to know if she is fooling around or serious, this particular one is definitely coming across she is going to hold truth to her word. )

[So that was what they sounded like. Silco leaned his head back on his neck as he closed his eye and listened to the voices that had plagued his daughter since the day that he had met her. So many told him that he coddled her by giving into the idea that she heard voices no one else could, and yet he could do nothing but believe her. Now it felt like its own vindication to put particular voices to her torment.

Of course - and as usual - his thoughts were interrupted by that baying of the pup pounding on the door. He folded his hands behind his back as he approached from the shadows to examined the situation while Vander's little prodigy threw the usual fit. He spotted the speakers, the monkey and then the text above the door. Of course. Jinx would rather torment them both with one another's presence than choose.

Yet, it was Singed voice that he recognized. Perhaps he was the only one of the two of them to know it. After what he had done to save her life and after many years of working with the doctor, he knew what the man was capable of.

That might have been the only reason he approached closer, purposefully scuffing his boot on the ground to announce himself since Vi was little more than a frantic pup at this point.]

How about you stop making a scene and use the space that happens to be between your ears for something other than taking punches, girl? This door requires two, and unfortunately for you, I'm the only other person here.

( this monkey doesn't get paid enough food to listen to the sister kick, pound, and scream at the door like this. but when someone else comes out of the shadows, the little thing sits more upright and alert. oh, this is the other person! he adjusts his bowtie to appear more professional and simply waits for the two of them to be ready. because it looks like they want to have a conversation first. that's fine in his book. )

Why do you care?

( she mumbles to him, her head lifting to meet his crimson lens. in all honesty, seeing scott here and trying to have her escape whatever this darkness is taking her is a bit unexpected. )

You didn't like me when we first met, remember?

( while she couldn't see his eyes, naturally, the way his body tensed when she admitted how much she enjoyed destruction, chaos, and mayhem screams is still pretty vivid in her mind. so how can someone who carried fear over her possibly see her as a friend? )

That too.

[ He has no doubt the citizens of Aldrip are keeping secrets from the Chosen, but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't oblivious to other things. Ragna knows from experience that the majority of people spend their whole lives without ever learning about the machinations that operate how the world works.

No comment on her threats to blow people up. Partially because he doesn't care that much, but also because he's fairly certain he can stop her if it comes down to it, so... eh, it's not that big of a deal. ]
