[ For his part, Nanami generally doesn't make comparisons between himself and others, resisting any such projection or identification. Were Strife — Cloud — to argue it, or to express that he feels actively rejected by flower bulbs for being in some way altered, Nanami would have pushed past a millisecond of bewilderment to suggest, blandly, that he might be taking conversing with flowers too seriously. Even too personally.

Not being a mindreader, and as noted, resisting empathy, he makes no assumptions as to why Cloud looks again at the gathered soil. Not that much in the way of assumption would have been needed.

The correction as to address takes up enough of his attention soon, the gentleness of it met with a frown that looks harder than it really is. It isn't as though he'd never interacted with foreigners (or visited another country) in his world, and adjusted accordingly, but with every word comprehended as Japanese, he'd defaulted. Rather, he'd mismanaged himself, a consequence of insufficient adaptation to the facts.

That frown's brief, at least, before he does, in fact, extend an invitation. ]

Then, Cloud, let's get a drink.

[ Turning his chin, and so his gaze, toward ramshackle shade and those gathered beneath it. In which I unilaterally assume that, if they're encouraging a lot of field work, there could be refreshments set up nearby, and cold beer for "farmhands" sure seems appropriate, doesn't it? AKA, in which I unilaterally force a (sort of) drinking thread after bungling the first one...

A proper invitation might have lifted into a question. His still clears as suggestion, rather than command, but just discernable may be traces of authority, experience that had become an expectation of not being questioned. Experience like completing a mission and taking a(n of age) junior for drinks, or a meal, before returning to the school and drafting a report.

Without waiting for a response, he starts to walk toward the shade. ]
