"Aye, I know that well enough," he replies tersely. "But the mortality of man is the result of a grave error. Which is why I seek to reverse it - so that they may be restored to their rightful state and realise the folly of their petty grievances towards one another."

He doesn't expect her to understand or even agree with him. He's long since given up on expecting anyone to sympathise with his position. Still, he eyes her.

"You do not seem very surprised to learn that I am immortal."
